Stan Lee, the creator of Iron Man, will make an appearance in Iron Man 2.
The Marvel Comics legend is commonly seen in small cameo appearances in Marvel films, however word is his appearance in Iron Man 2 will provide him a larger role than usual.
Spoiler Alert
According to a report by Nuke the Fridge, Stan Lee will be portraying Larry King and will supposedly be interviewing Tony Stark about his latest invention, the new modified black Iron Man armor.
Fans will remember Stan Lee also appeared in the first Iron Man film. In the first film he didn’t appear as Larry King – he appeared as Hugh Hefner, the creator of Playboy. Of course that latter statement is also open for debate since he is also credited with having appeared as himself.
Either way his two Iron Man roles would appear to be different.
With a slate of Marvel movies on the agenda for the foreseeable future, you can expect to hear more news about other Stan Lee cameos.
Batman and Superman work together in 'Superman/Batman: Public Enemies'
Warner Bros. have officially announced the DVD and Blu-Ray release of Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, their sixth original DC Universe animated movie.
In the film, United States President Lex Luthor uses the oncoming trajectory of a Kryptonite asteroid to frame Superman and declare a $1 billion bounty on the heads of the Man of Steel and his “partner in crime,” Batman. Heroes and villains alike launch a relentless pursuit of Superman and Batman, who must unite – and recruit help – to stave off the action-packed onslaught, stop the asteroid, and uncover Luthor’s devious plot to take command of far more than North America.
Superman in 'Superman/Batman: Public Enemies'
“Based on the past success of Superman Doomsday and Batman Gotham Knight, we know the pairing of the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight – pitted against both their DC Super Hero colleagues and the entire rogue’s gallery of DC villains – will offer fans the level of entertainment normally reserved for the big, summer blockbuster films,” said Amit Desai, WHV Vice President of Family, Animation & Partner Brands.
“This is the ultimate film for DC animation lovers featuring not only the cornerstone characters of comic book and Saturday morning heroes, but also returns the seminal voices of those characters – Tim Daly, Kevin Conroy and Clancy Brown – in a story that explores the Superman/Batman dynamic and allows Lex Luthor to shine in ultimate villainy,” said Gregory Noveck, Senior VP Creative Affairs, DC Comics.

By now you’d be aware that The Dark Knight won more awards than any other film or television show at the 35th annual Saturn Awards (full list of winners here).
One of the awards The Dark Knight scored was ‘Best Music’ courtesy of a brilliant score by famed music composers Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard (listen to samples of the tracks in the Amazon widget above).
Steve ‘Frosty’ Weintraub from Collider attended the awards and managed to score a backstage interview with the pair in which they quite humorously talk about The Dark Knight, their friendship and the projects they are working on now. Watch it below:
The first five days are up for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and the box office results are in.
After breaking the all-time box office take for a Wednesday ($60.6M) Michael Bay’s robot-explosion-smash-fest failed to catch The Dark Knight ($203.7M) to take the record for the biggest five-day opener ever. But it came absurdly close with $201M and now enters the history books with the second highest five-day opening for a film ever.
Remember the war of words between Terminator Salvation director McG and Michael Bay that went on whilst both films were being produced?
On the critic side of the fence, despite also receiving some poor reviews McG’s Terminator Salvation definitely won out albeit it ‘just’. Terminator Salvation currently has a low 33% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. By comparison Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has an amazingly low 21%. McG wins on that count.
On the box office side of the fence there’s no question that Michael Bay has taken that one.
Australian star Jessica Marais has set her sights on working in Hollywood and has reportedly signed with United Talent Agency, one of Hollywood’s largest talent agencies. United rep notable stars such as Johnny Depp, Harrison Ford and Charlize Theron.
Legend of the Seeker fans know Marais well from her brilliant performance as the Mord’Sith Denna in Legend of the Seeker episodes ‘Bloodline’ and ‘Denna’.
Keep your eye out for her name. Marais is a brilliant and popular actress who this year picked up two Logie Awards – Australia’s equivalent of the Emmy’s – and will no doubt take the US by storm. She does however clarify that she’s in no hurry to move to Los Angeles, preferring to wait for the right role.
“There are no plans to move there just yet – it’s more to have people on the ground over there looking at scripts and seeking out opportunities for me,” Marais said.

In the past week three beautiful posters featuring characters from Shane Acker’s 9 were released as part of a countdown to release all the character posters. Now all eight posters have been released. Yes, “eight” because the posters for characters 3 & 4 have been combined.
Here are all the posters in order from the first one released to the last. Enjoy.
This will probably be the last article I’ll need to write on Virtuality.
The two-hour premiere of Ron Moore’s sci-fi pilot drew only 1.8 million viewers to rank it as the lowest-rated program on a major broadcast network on Friday night.
With Virtuality completely dependent on high ratings to turn around Fox’s decision not to green-light the series, it would seem to be a given that any glimmer of hope there may have been for a series is now gone.
To my mind that is sad as the series had enormous potential and was received well by the majority of industry reviewers.
Just one day after Torchwood: Children of Earth premieres in the UK Silva Screen Records will release music composer Ben Foster’s soundtrack to the story – but only in the UK.
If you’re fast, you could be listening to the score for the whole five part story arc before the story arc has completed its consecutive night run.
US residents will have to wait over a month until after it airs there, though I don’t really understand the logic behind that.
Find it in the US on Amazon here (will be released August 11).
Find it in the UK on Amazon here (will be released July 7).
Read a complete episode by episode story summary and watch the latest trailer here.
Torchwood: Children of Earth will air in the UK on BBC1 over consecutive nights from 9:00pm – 10:00pm commencing July 6.
Torchwood: Children of Earth will air in the US on BBC America at 9/8c commencing July 20.
ABC’s new sci-fi series Flash Forward follows the story of many different characters from all over the world as they deal with witnessing a 2-minute and 17-second slice of the future.
Though previously billed as having been ‘based on’ Robert J. Sawyer’s sci-fi novel ‘Flashforward’, executive producer Marc Guggenhelm has told Think McFly Think that he prefers to refer to the series as having been ‘inspired by’ Sawyer’s book since the storyline heads in a different direction to the novel.
“If you read the book and find the concept intriguing, you will really enjoy what David [Goyer] and Brannon [Braga] did with it,” Guggenheim adds.
In the book the flash that the characters experience goes forward some 21 years but the series significantly shrinks it to six months. The benefit according to Guggenhelm is that the future can become the present much faster.
“The real appeal when you are doing a television series is getting to see the payoff of when the future becomes the present. David and Brannon made the decision to have that payoff come in the first season,” he said.
Guggenhelm also believes Flash Forward could go for longer than Lost.
“We figure it can go seven years pretty comfortably,” he said. “At a minimum, we figure we would need three seasons [to tell the story]…I have a feeling people will start talking about Flash Foward once they see it. I think that show will inspire that much interest.”
