‘Avatar’ Music Score Likely to Run as Long as the Film

Although James Cameron’s Avatar has been generating a lot of buzz, very little information has surfaced regarding James Horner’s musical score for the film. In fact, details about the score have been as secretive if not more secretive than the film itself, especially when you consider Horner has been working on it since as early as June 2008.

Thanks to Fox Music executive vice president Mike Knobloch, we now have a little more insight into what to expect from the score, how long it will be, and what it might sound like.

“It’s a brilliantly unique blend of traditional and contemporary, electronic elements and spans the entire spectrum of attitude and energy – from bombastic action to the delicate, romantic discovery of a new world,” Knobloch said.

Tim Daly is undisputed as the iconic voice of the Man of Steel having voiced more than 52 episodes and several animated movies as Superman. Now he returns to reprise his role in Superman/Batman: Public Enemies.

Kevin Conroy is the voice of Batman in Superman/Batman: Public Enemies

Just as there is no doubt that Christian Bale is the definitive live-action Dark Knight, there is no doubt that the definitive voice of the animated Batman is Kevin Conroy.

Conroy’s first audition for an animated voiceover role was in 1991 when he arrived at Warner Bros. hoping to land some of the character roles on an upcoming series, and walked out as the title character of Batman: The Animated Series.  Conroy has since set the standard for the role and, nearly two decades later, continues to do so with Superman/Batman: Public Enemies.

Saving ‘Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles’

Fan-funded mobile billboard to promote The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Fan-funded mobile billboard promoting The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Fox canceled Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles almost six months ago now, but fans have refused to give up.  If you’re a fan of the show and haven’t added your weight to the various campaigns designed to convince Fox to overturn their decision, then let me suggest now’s the time to join the party.

Whilst some people might tell you fan campaigns don’t help, I’m going to tell you that those people are flat out wrong.  Fan campaigns don’t always help, but then most campaigns aren’t underpinned by the same level of dedication and energy that TSCC fans are proving they have.  And make no mistake, the ‘Save the Sarah Connor Chronicles’ movement is making waves.

Should You Go See “Jennifer’s Body?”

Jennifer's Body

If, like millions of others, you’re completely mesmerized by Megan Fox’s hotness then no doubt you’ve already decided that her latest horror-comedy flick, Jennifer’s Body, is for you.  Clearly, however, not everyone is that mesmerized because the film only managed to pull in $6.8M in its opening weekend, effectively making it one of the worst performers of the week.

If Megan Fox can’t do it alone, the question begs: is the film worth seeing on its own merits?  I’ll let you answer that question yourself.  To help you, here’s a few excerpts from the myriad of reviews that have turned up online together with the trailer, a few clips, and a selection of images from the film.  I’m guessing you will find plenty in this article to help you make up your own mind on whether or not you’ll help this struggling flick to improve its big-screen performance.

Concept Art From Andrew Niccol’s ‘The Cross’

Concept art from 'The Cross'

It wouldn’t surprise me to learn that you haven’t heard of SPV Films’ upcoming sci-fi flick The Cross. But I would be surprised if you’re a sci-fi fan who has never heard of the 1997 sci-fi classic Gattaca. Therein resides the anticipation excitement of The Cross, for it is the next serious sci-fi film from Gattaca director Andrew Niccol.

The short synopsis for The Cross is that it is an escape film that tells the story of a man who sets his mind on crossing a mysterious border that no one has ever crossed before.  I’ll give you the longer, more spoiler filled synopsis at the end of the article.

Transmedia Story Telling Revives Hope in ‘Day One’

The cast of 'Day One'

Last month NBC execs put a dampener on Jess Alexander’s new sci-fi series Day One by suggesting that the series may not go beyond one season.

If you missed the announcement, this is what was said by Angela Bromstad, NBC’s prime time president:

“We’ve always looked at Day One as a big event for us and not necessarily a show that would be an ongoing, returning show for a second season. It would depend on its success. Just by nature of the genre, they always then get a little narrow, and whether or not we can sustain it on the air.”

‘Star Trek’: Shatner Hasn’t Seen It, Nimoy Not in Sequel

Leonard Nimoy Mind Melds William Shatner at Dragon*Con 2009

Leonard Nimoy Mind Melds William Shatner at Dragon*Con 2009

William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy attended Dragon*Con 2009 n Atlanta, GA. over the weekend and provided fans with a hilarious panel presentation during which a few interesting things emerged.

First, William Shatner hasn’t seen Star Trek. He’d like you to believe the reason is he’s simply been too busy.

Second, there are no plans, at least at this stage, for Leonard Nimoy to reprise his role as Spock in the sequel to J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek.

I could summarize the rest for you, but then I’d rob you of your chance to catch some very humorous moments of banter being exchanged between the two actors.  Instead, grab a coffee, sit back and relax.  You can watch the entire panel presentation after the jump.
