Battlestar Galactica Season 3 Soundtrack

Battlestar Galactica Season 3 SoundtrackIf you’re into Battlestar Galactica then you have to know one of the reasons the show is so damn brilliant is the mood created by Bear McCreary’s perfectly suited music score.  Although this soundtrack was released way back in 2007, I am listening to it right now and its sheer brilliance reminded me that there are perhaps many new Galactica fans out there that haven’t considered grabbing a hold of the score – and perhaps a handful of die harders as well.

McCreary, who also scores Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Eureka, is to my mind the best music composer on television today.  His scores to the seasons of Battlestar are simply brilliant, and this score to season 3 is no different.  He continues his groundbreaking musical tradition, ingeniously melding orchestra, vocals, rock, world-beats and synth into an emotional, soul-stirring experience.  I highly recommend laying your hands on this one, it’s a keeper.

Bear McCreary Scores the Music for Caprica

Bear McCreary scores CapricaBear McCreary has completed recording over an hour of original orchestral score for use in the new Battlestar Galactica prequel series, CapricaCaprica has also been given the green-light for a first season of 20 episodes and yes, Bear McCreary will be staying on to score those as well.

The score to Caprica will have a new tone that is distinct but still connected to his Battlestar Galactica score.  In his words: “The score, like the tone of new series, is quite different from Galactica.  I am introducing a new ensemble, soloists and distinct musical themes, expanding the sonic boundaries of the Battlestar universe, while still keeping the soul of the score connected to my previous work.  And don’t worry… Chris Bleth, MB Gordy, Paul Cartwright and the other unique musicians who play on Galactica are on board as well.”

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles Soundtrack

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles soundtrack by Bear McCrearyIf you’re a Battlestar Galactica fan then you must have heard of Bear McCreary – if not, you’ve probably heard his work without realizing it.  He’s the music composer of the absolutely astounding score to the Battlestar Galactica series.  He’s also the composer to the brilliant score behind Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles the music score was released just under a month ago (December 23, 2008).   There’s three songs that ruin the mood of McCreary’s music but apart from that the rest of the soundtrack is superb – typical McCreary top-quality musical craftsmanship.  Since it’s release it has received nothing but rave reviews, with all reviewers handing it 5 out of 5 stars.  I too give it 5 out of 5 stars and believe this is one for any sci-fi music buffs collection.

If you don’t know much about McCreary then I suggest you go out of your way to find some of his music to listen to because he’s easily the best music composer in Television.  You can visit his official website to learn more about him.  You can also find all of his released albums in the Sci Fi Scoop Mall.

I highly recommend the Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles soundtrack.
