If you’re a fan of either Dollhouse or Smallville then you’ll be pleased to hear the DVR numbers are in and its good news.

Both shows received the largest gain in viewers out of all shows, with each adding a whopping 50% more viewers in the seven days after their episodes air.

Last Friday Dollhouse pulled 2.25 million viewers and Smallville pulled 2.3 million viewers.

The news brings with it Fox’s announcement that Dollhouse will, at least, see its entire second season out.

“It’s one of the reasons that we brought it back; we knew it was DVR friendly,” Fox Scheduling Chief Preston Beckman said. “We expected to see this and hopefully we’ll see [the overnight ratings] increase from week to week … with some shows, you have to look at the bigger picture.”

Whilst Dollhouse clearly received some preferential treatment from Fox when it was renewed for a second season despite poor ratings at the time, the chances of the same thing occurring again are surely becoming slimmer and slimmer.

Since returning for its second season, Dollhouse has rated worse than any other scripted prime time television series, a performance that is so bad that TV By the Numbers have declared Dollhouse unlikely to return for a third season.

Surely Fox must now be realizing their decision to choose Dollhouse over Terminator wasn’t a good one.  I’m guessing a lot of upset Terminator fans are included in the percentage of viewers not tuning in for Dollhouse. Well, at least one of them is.

But surely there’s a simple solution.  Bring back Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
