A Second ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Trilogy
Whilst attending the San Diego Comic-Con Oren Aviv, Disney’s Head of Production, has in an exclusive interview with Coming Soon confirmed that not only will Disney be shooting Pirates of the Caribbean 4 next year, but that the film will hopefully be the first of a new Pirates trilogy.
“We’re going to shoot Pirates 4 in April and May of next year,” Aviv told them. “We are going to release it hopefully in 2011 is the plan.”
Aviv also confirmed that although Disney intend to shoot just the one Pirates movie next year it would “hopefully be the first of another trilogy.”
“It’s important to get the story right and it’s important to me to scale it down, because we can’t get bigger,” Aviv said. “The movies have subsequently gotten bigger and bigger and very complicated and they were satisfying on so many levels obviously, but I want to kind of reboot the whole thing and bring it down to its core, its essence, just characters.”
With such an early date for shooting no doubt we’ll hear more Pirates news in the near future.
