Akiva Goldsman Talks ‘Lobo’
Akiva Goldsman, the producer of the new live-action adaptation of the DC Comic character Lobo, has provided a small but nonetheless reportable update on the status of the film.
Put in short, the character design of Lobo is done, test filming is about to commence, and the film has a big visual effects budget. Goldsman also confirms he’s happy to have Guy Ritchie in the directors chair.
“There’s something hyperbolic and authentic about a Guy Ritchie movie.” Goldsman said. “His best movies are deeply, deeply stylized yet they are all grounded; there’s a grit of stylization, which sounds like an oxymoron but it makes perfect sense when you’ve seen his films. We’ve never seen Guy’s sensibility married to a project with such a large special effects budget.”
He adds: “We’ve got the character design pretty much done, and the [November] test will get us moving forward to the next step.”
With casting expected to be the next step, who will score the coveted role of the Universe’s sickest, toughest super-hero?
Then again, they’re aiming at a PG-13 rating, so does anyone care? I’m guessing not even Lobo fans will until that rating steps up to an R.
