Alan Ball Talks ‘True Blood’
Now that the second season of True Blood has run its course, series creator Alan Ball has shared a few thoughts in an interview with Ausiello.
Following is a summary of the key information that he’s divulged – and it’s very spoilerific, so I’ve posted it after the jump.
Some of this won’t make a lot of sense to those who haven’t read the books and perhaps it’s better that way.
Remember, you’ve been warned about spoilers:
- the third season will explain why Eric was not seen in the last half of the season finale
- Jason is also non-human but he’s “mostly” human
- what Sookie is will be revealed in season 3
- the Queen’s Yahtzee obsession is ridiculous. Actually, Ball didn’t say that. What he said was “You’re 400 years old. What are you going to do? It’s something we came up with in the room and we thought it was funny.” So he did say it was a joke at least.
- the Queen will be scary in the future
- Maryann is dead, she isn’t coming back
- things that have happened through the 9 book saga will happen earlier on the show
- the werewolf Alcide will be introduced but he hasn’t yet been cast
- Sam’s blood relatives will be introduced
- super bad vampire Franklin Mott will appear
- Debbie Pelt will appear
- the residents of Hotshot will be introduced
- they’re not done with the Fellowship of the Sun
- the Jason/Tara love angle will be restarted due to Jason’s guilt over killing Eggs
- Lafayette will get a boyfriend
- the series may go back to history and show more of Godric
