'The Fourth Kind': Four step-by-step banners (click to enlarge)

Universal Pictures has released four banners (above) for director Olatunde Osunsanmi’s upcoming sci-fi thriller The Fourth Kind.

The banners step you through the kinds of alien encounters that lead up to the kind that the title of the movie is based upon, with the final ‘Fourth Kind’ banner being simply a version of the official Fourth Kind poster.

The Fourth Kind is a thriller based upon documented case study evidence that points to alien abduction.  The film is apparently woven with real-life archive footage of this evidence.

It stars fan favorite Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil / The Fifth Element), Will Patton (Remember the Titans / Armageddon), and Elias Koteas (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button / Gattaca).

official Synopsis:

1n 1972, a scale of measurement was established for alien encounters. When a UFO is sighted, it is called an encounter of the first kind. When evidence is collected, it is known as an encounter of the second kind. When contact is made with extraterrestrials, it is the third kind. The next level, abduction, is the fourth kind. This encounter has been the most difficult to document … until now.

Structured unlike any film before it, The Fourth Kind is a provocative thriller set in modern-day Nome, Alaska, where—mysteriously since the 1960s—a disproportionate number of the population has been reported missing every year. Despite multiple FBI investigations of the region, the truth has never been discovered. Here in this remote region, psychologist Dr. Abigail Tyler (Milla Jovovich) began videotaping sessions with traumatized patients and unwittingly discovered some of the most disturbing evidence of alien abduction ever documented.

Using never-before-seen archival footage that is integrated into the film, The Fourth Kind exposes the terrified revelations of multiple witnesses. Their accounts of being visited by alien figures all share disturbingly identical details, the validity of which is investigated throughout the film.

The Fourth Kind will be released November 6, 2009.

I went to see this movie tonight with my boyfriend. It gave him chills! He was nervous to go back home. The way the movie is set up is unremarkable. I know that there are alot of people out there who doubt the authenticity of this film, along with any other types of alien stories. I am someone who believes in aliens. As far as we know, this universe is never ending, do you really believe we are the ONLY living creatures in the universe?? I highly doubt it.

hi i am very disappointed in the fourth kind! i watched it early in the morning and started doing research there after! only to find that most of it isn’t even true, and the old footage of “the real” Dr. Abigail Emily Tyler was in fact played by, Charlotte Milchard… http://www.charlottemilchard.com
can somebody please perhaps explain that to me? and also, there was absolutely no snow in the footage? Winters in Alaska are usually from October-May???
