Lionsgate and After Dark Films are set to adapt Laurell K. Hamilton’s Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter novels into a made-for-television movie.

There are 16 novels in the Anita Blake series that have sold more than 6 million copies worldwide. Similar to True Blood the fictional world of Anita Blake is an alternate Earth where Vampires and Shapeshifters are an accepted part of normal society. The story follows Blake’s character as she deals with the supernatural, dating and sex.

There is also a monthly Marvel comic-book adaptation of the series (in partnership with Dabel Brothers) which was launched in 2006. The comic is also written by Laurell K. Hamilton and also by Stacie M. Ritchie with illustrations by Brett Booth.

Glen Morgan (X-Files/ Millenium/Space Above and Beyond) wrote the adaptation and will be involved as an Executive Producer.

Production is scheduled to begin this summer.

Funny this book debuted in the back of a comic that my partner created and that I wrote called Marshal. Interesting news. Laurell’s work has a huge fanbase.

Anyone wanna make a movie out of the Marshal, The Rift, Urban Sprawl or Immortal Kiss? lol
