‘Avatar’ – A feeling of Déjà vu

Well, how many times did you feel like “been there seen that” feeling while watching Avatar? Most of the critics and moviegoers had a feeling of déjà vu and this was all because the story of Avatar bears a stark resemblance to Pocahontas, Dances with Wolves and Dune. We do not want to take away any credits from James Cameron but just want to mention that barring the 3D cinematic effect, the story felt quite similar to Dances with Wolves.  This 1990 civil war film by Kevin Costner is based on the story of a soldier who tries to get closer to a Native American tribe and then something just does not go right – same as Avatar!

I agree it definitely reminded me of Pocahontas, Dances with Wolves and Fern Gully.

How bout the amazing likeness to Fern Gully? I’ve see the movie and its great I just seriously thought it was a jazzed up adult version of Fern Gully.

considering the film was wrote nearly 14 years ago, i think cameron can get away with it. plus the way the film portrays the story is far better than the other films mentioned…..but thats just my opinion

The story is the same as other cheap SciFi (only this one cost more ). If we remove the 3D effects I don’t know if it’s worth to see the movie.

The storyline we find in The Last Samurai too, the special effects we saw in Alien … all it was left was watching them in 3D.
“A jelly breathed, stuffed with plenty of technology, just-just we (we = Avatar producer/aso) might get something” as a friend said the other day.

Considering how much it was mediated, Avatar, is below my expectations (the 3D version raise him a bit, but not that much).
I recommend those excited for this “thing” to grab a book to read.
Higher cost does not mean quality!
