Transformers 2 at the Pyramids

Transformers 2 - Filming on location at the Pyramids

Avatar - Total Film have posted an exclusive interview with James Cameron where he gives you a gazillion reasons why you should be watering at the mouth over his upcoming sci fi blockbuster, Avatar.  At the start of the year I voted Avatar as the most anticipated movie of 2009 and although you’re not seeing mass marketing information about it like you are Terminator: Salvation or Transformers 2, read this interview and you might just share my view.

X Men Origins:  Wolverine - A cameo with Storm was shot for the movie but, alas, its not going to find its way into the movie.  But we should still see it on the DVD when it finally makes it there.  How do I know? Widscreen have posted an exclusive video interview with the film’s producer Lauren Shuler Donner here.

X Men: First Class – Yes, this is an all new live-action X Men movie that’s in development with a scheduled release date of 2010.  Josh Schwartz is writing the script but given that there’s no director on board as yet it’s not looking 2010 likely.   Recently Schwartz told MTV that he wasn’t allowed to divulge anything regarding the script, saying only that it’s exciting and going to be huge.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen – As we anticipate a little more footage from the new movie (new trailer to be released Monday), Michael Bay has told the guys at Collider that Transformers 2 is “Epic in Scale” and that he has made it darker and given the Transformers more personality.  At present the film, which is still being edited, will run almost two and a half hours.  Additionally Transformers 2 has been shot using IMAX cameras, and Bay is quoted as saying that the IMAX version of the film is very different to watch than the standard cinema, citing the IMAX footage as “Awesome.”  Here is Bay’s interview with Collider:

Watchmen – Want to ask the stars of Watchmen a question?  That’s the opportunity Cinematical are offering you.  Now’s your chance to ask whatever you want (well, within reason) of stars Patrick Wilson (Dan Dreiberg/Nite Owl), Billy Crudup (Dr. Jon Osterman/Doctor Manhattan), Matthew Goode (Adrian Veidt/Ozymandias) and Malin Akerman (Laurie Juspeczyk/Silk Spectre).  Go here to submit your question.

But wait, that’s not all on the Watchmen front. UGO Movies have posted an exclusive video interview with the Watchmen graphic novel artist Dave Gibbons.  Gibbons isn’t being as silly about the whole Watchmen graphic novel conversion to movie thing like writer Alan Moore (Gibbons +1)  and it doesn’t come as any surprise that he’s impressed with Zack Snyder’s faithful rendition:

The Day the Earth Stood Still – It gets a pretty poor rating on the IMDB and soooo many people hated it if you believe all the online comments floating around – yet everyone I know loved it myself included.  If you did too, you’ll be keen to know that 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment have announced an April 7th release date for the Blu-ray Disc and DVD release.  Get your wallets ready.

Battlestar Galactica – Well if you want some spoilers to this weeks episode of Battlestar Galactica titled ‘No Exit’, here we go (I usually don’t post spoilers in the news items, but in the case of videos, well it’s then up to you whether or not you want to watch it.  Ok, just to be sure, here’s the drill – this is A MAJOR SPOILER.  Enjoy if you want to.  Click here.

Oh yeah, and here’s a straight out preview from the next episode that ALSO HAS MAJOR SPOILERS:

The Dark Knight – Well actually this relates more to Batman in movies than specifically The Dark Knight. Website www.TheUltimateJoker.com have formed a petition calling for movie studios to never again cast The Joker in a Batman movie (or any movie for that matter).  They believe Heath Ledger’s performance is the pinnacle of Joker portrayal and that the role can never be played any better.  For this reason, they want it left as is.  Should we ban The Joker from appearing in any future movies?  I see no reason to resurrect The Joker for a long time, but ‘forever’ might be asking a little too much in relation to a character that has been Batman’s arch nemesis for almost 70 years.  But in the end the fans can decide here…well voice their opinion at least.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles – It’s back on TV in two days time with the episode ‘The Good Wound’ – and already it’s looking like being a top notch return.  Watch an interview with Thomas Dekker (aka John Connor) and view a snippet from the upcoming episode here.

Heroes – No news here, I just wanted to point out how Heroes has gone from being one of the greatest shows of all time (Season 1) to, well, whatever it is now. Trust and Blood (Season 3, Episode 15) left me wincing nearly every scene with only a couple of redeeming moments spread throughout. I think there’s no need for a Season 4 – let NBC spare us.
