Russell Tovey and Lenora Crichlow in 'Being Human'

Russell Tovey (aka George the Werewolf) has confirmed Season 2 of Being Human will commence filming in August with a scheduled transmission in the UK around January 2010.  He also confirmed that the first season is due to air [later this year] on BBC America, in Italy, Australia, Brazil and France.

The news came whilst Tovey and co-star Lenora Crichlow (Annie) were in attendance at Collectormania Midlands, where they also let out a few other tidbits related to the upcoming second season of the hit UK series.

Crichlow confirmed Annie is about to switch up her wardrobe after wearing the same clothes for an entire season.  Now that she’s at peace with herself and her death we can expect her to trade-in her ugg boots for a skirt.

Whilst explaining the werewolf prosthetics that he had to endure to bring the werewolf to life, Tovey added that fans can expect his werewolf to change too.

“They’re going to improve on the final werewolf for the second series. He was a bit of a mincing werewolf,” he said.

I’ve recently been involved in filming scenes from the first episode of series 2 – talk about action! We’re all in for a treat with this new series, and I’m as excited as anybody else to watch the finished product. Roll on January!

I am in the USA and I am thrilled that they are doing another series/season. I wonder when it will get to us on BBC America. We are just now watching season 1.

  11. Liza said:

I’m also in the USA, and I’m really looking forward to the next season. The vampire and werewolf genres have been pretty dead for me (no pun intended) and Being Human completely revitalized my interest. Is there any site that will be showing episodes online in my area?

  12. Mark said:

I’m in Australia and had not heard of the show. I recently got the chance to see the DVD of Series one and was very impressed by the show. I’m really looking forward to Series 2, I hope they do more episodes than season 1. The BBC have a winner on their hands.

  13. Darren said:

Hi Mark, they’ll be doing two more episodes than they did in season 1. Season 2 will consist of 8 episodes.

  14. Michillinda said:

Cheers to the bbc! I found this show by accident, and I’m so glad I did! Can’t wait for season 2!

I think Mitchel and Annie should get togeter in the news series.
And btw…Why is everyone saying Being Human is not for teenagers?
Believe me my parents are really strict but let mr watch it and I am a very young teenager. Lol.
    But I’m not a mug.
Aidan Turner plays Mitchel btw for someone who wanted to know.
    ;)

The season finally ended tonight in the USA. I heard that season 2 will begin in January 2010. Is that everywhere or just in the UK. I have become addicted to the show and now that George’s girlfriend is a werewolf I can’t wait to see how it is going to play out. Thanks for the second season.

  17. Shiwolf said:

I’m hoping that it airs here in the US in January. I love this show. Is Mitch coming back too? I haven’t seen anything about him coming back.

  18. Barbara said:

Well I look forward to season two. I’m still puzzled about the UK having such short seasons. I started to really get into it and presto the season’s over.

  19. JWJW said:

The UK has a ’series’ instead of a ’season’- it’s generally 6 episodes and therefore doesn’t air over the course of a whole season. I know Being Human had a few more episodes than 6.
It also ensures that there are no filler episodes, it’s easier to plan than dragging out a 22 episode season with hit or miss episodes and hundreds of plot holes.

  20. Darren said:

Yes, that’s true, but most of the readers of Sci Fi Scoop are from the US and would be very confused if I was talking about “series 1″ and “series 2″ (they might think it was two different shows), whereas on the other hand readers from the UK still know what I’m talking about when I refer to each “series” as a “season”. UK viewers don’t need subtitles to understand US English…
    :D

I have to wait untill 2010 for Season 2 of ‘Being Human’?! Thats too long :( Its the best show ive ever watched (That has Vampires, Werewolves and stuff in it)! But even If I must wait that long I will..Im just glad its coming back, y’know? Cant wait!!!

  22. Lims said:

This is such a brilliant show…I saw the pilot episode ages ago by chance and found out others had seen it and were talking about how great it was. Then when the first series came on I was over the moon and soon loads of others started talking about how good it was. The main 3 actors are excellent. They are the ones that really make it such compulsive viewing. The script and the plots are great..but you do need the good actors to bring the episodes alive.
So pleased they are making series 2…but why has it taken so long???…please, please, please make a third series!

  23. Kathy said:

    I love this show.

Thanks to BBC for kiss-ass comedy and an attention-getting show!!!

I am so glad that being human is coming back for a second season. There are so few shows about that are paranormal, sci-fi, or fantasy. The fan base is out there. Look at the block buster movies such as Close Encounters, Star Wars, Terminator, Twilight, Avatar.

Applause to BBC for bringing Being Human back for a second season.

  40. Sylv said:

Well congratulations to the person behind the series…..Watchin the reruns again makes you realise that there should be another series.Tip though any chance of Tovey the vampire ever riding a motor bike. MIGHT ADD A TWIST TO HIS CHARACTER….And i think he could make it into other areas of the industry of acting. Thanks for allowing the dark & deep side into TV,ITS NOT AS IF WERE ALL GOING TO TURN NOW IS IT? Best wishes Sylv x

Hi guys, only a few more days to go and we shall see the new series of being human, just for your information, tovey is the werewolf not the vampire, anyhow, you guys in america, can you see if you can get BBC Iplayer – this is the BBC fave things from the past week, and you MAY be able to view Being Human on here a little sooner than having to wait for it. It airs here on sunday so give it a week after bfore checking :)

I’m an American, but I love British shows so much more than our programming (seriously 3 CSI’s and now 2 NCIS’s?) because unlike our series, the UK puts alot of love into their shows with tight innovative writing, brilliant actors (unlike our “made for tv” barbie dolls) and daring content that would be written out within seconds of being shown to American tv producers who feel the need to make everything ‘cookie-cutter’
    appealing.

I don’t understand why people complain about only getting 6+ episodes, when the 6 we get are of amazing quality rather than a full 22+ episode season with 16 of them being nothing but boring filler……no thanks!

If only more Americans knew about the superior programming of the UK, then finally shallow ridiculous shows like Gossip Girls, and The Hill’s ect. would finally get the trashcan treatment they deserve.

  43. Cel said:

Ahh it just cracks me up hearing an American trashing their own. I’m quite flabbergasted that their are even americans out their that understand the British humour!

What an awesome show and yes I agree Mitchel is HOT!

So looking forward to season 2 here in Oz – any ideas what date it’s airing?

Gotta love pommy t.v. it’s the best!

  44. Loki said:

Lol all you yanks watching British comedy..! whatever next? Has there been a sudden outburst of social intelligence over there? Thought you guys liked to stick to your slapstick humour.., Now with the OZzies I get it… I have seen their attempt at television – ouch!

  45. Mitchell said:

I love this show! But, we dont have a subscription to BBC America so I have to go onto BBC America ON DEMAND. Anyways, does anyone know when it will come out for America??? I keep looking on ON DEMAND, but it is always just – The Coupling and Top Gear and stuff… Can anyone help me?

  46. Michelle said:

    Loki, Loki, Loki. Loki.

WTH? Yanks have no social humor???!!??? — this comes from the country that invented Benny Hill. tsk. tsk.

Anyway, I love “Being Human”. It airs on BBC currently, but when will it come to BBCA? I don’t know how I can take the wait until I get some decent fantasy/horror. Anytime we get a halfway decent sci fi or fantasy show, the network b****rds cancel it. Rumor has it that sometimes, it’s not the lack of popularity, but the price tag that stops the series.

Anywho (as we say here in Texas)

    Adios!

  47. K.J said:

Could anyone please provide info on when season 2 will air in the U.S? I really enjoyed the show and am anxious to watch season 2

Trapped for eternity in uggs, she’s already in hell. I kind of liked the aspect of her not being able to change her clothes though, it added to the ghosty feel, at least the ,made her non seeable again, if she still had that then what exactly would make her a ghost? lol

  49. Jess said:

Lol JustMeh! weird tho, how they put her in the same clothes but her hair and makeup is untouched…? I mean, i don’t see any ghosts working in Superdrug!! Lol, Loving Being Human and i <3 Aidan Turner!!

I am from the U.S. and I must say that I became interested in U.K. shows when BBC America started airing HEX. Of course then I have progressed to Robin Hood (which kills me that its over) and Being Human (it fills the void of the loss of Robin Hood and is such a great show and concept). For me I must say that Europe puts out the best shows around. They are simple in their essence without the CGI wow factor and still edge of your seat gripping. If we in the U.S. don’t start producing better shows soon I may have to cross the pond.
