Brian Austin Green Pushing For ‘Green Lantern’ Role

Brian Austin Green (aka Derek Reese in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) has confirmed his desire to play the Green Lantern after Robert Sanchez of IESB.net quite accurately told him during a recent interview, “You have the look, you’ve got the square jaw.”
“The first person who ever said that to me was Megan [Fox],” Green replied.
When asked if he’d put any feelers out to score the role, he confirmed he had.
“We have, the response has been they’ve got names in mind but I am hoping to get in and meet with the producers and I’m gonna push for it like Tobey Maguire. Push for it. That’s all I can do.”
Green’s performance in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicle’s has demonstrated he has the presence and acting ability to take on such an iconic role as Hal Jordan (aka the Green Lantern) – and he certainly looks the part. He’s also a huge Green Lantern fan himself which is sure to go down well with fellow Green Lantern fans. When asked what superhero film he’s most excited to see:
“Lantern, Green Lantern. I had like Green Lantern action figures and shit when I was a kid.”
There are a number of rumors floating around as to who will score the coveted lead role in DC Comics’ much talked about comic adaptation. Chris Pine is a favorite (and has previously confirmed he’s been in talks for the role) and even Sam Worthington has been rumored to be a leading contender. As it stands however all names associated to the role remain rumor.
If DC Comics decide to include Brian Austin Green as the Green Lantern, then sign me up for a ticket. Right now I can’t think of anyone more suited.
The Green Lantern will be directed by Martin Campbell (The Legend of Zorro / Casino Royale) and is currently scheduled for release 17 December 2010.

Cast Brian Austin Green as Green Lantern and you have already earned five of my ten bucks.

Darren, I don’t know how you resisted writing a headline like this:
“Brian Austin Green Lantern?”
Maybe you’re holding out for this one:
“It’s Official: Brian Austin Green Lantern!”

Brian Austin Green as the Green Lantern? Damn straight!

Hahaha. In a case of extreme plagiarism, if they cast him, that will be the title I will use without question!

Yeah he’s cool. He’d be good as the Green Lantern – actually looks just like him too.

Well Brian (Sexton that is), looks like Reelz Channel beat me to the chance at using your ‘Brian Austin Green Lantern’ title idea:

Entertainment Weekly too:

But until I see a date on an article that predates this one, it looks like I came up with it first. Frankly, it wouldn’t surprise me to find out that some other articles were written after their authors saw your article and my comment, but those authors failed to properly credit either of us.

Apparently, mistyping “http” as “htp” prevents one’s name from being linked. Ha ha.

Well I’d have to say that you said it first, but then, it’s the type of association that I’m sure others would be putting together by themselves. In any case, that link you posted is a good one, with the EW author supporting the idea of Brian Austin Green as the Green Lantern.
