Cate Blanchett Joins ‘The Hobbit’

Until now the majority of actors involved into shooting of The Hobbit have been new faces, however together with Ian McKellen (Gandalf), Peter Jackson will be bringing back the Elf Queen – Cate Blanchett.A press-release was sent today from Warner Bros. that confirmed Cate Blanchett’s role of Galadriel, the Lady of Lothlorien. The film director Peter Jackson said on this matter:
“Cate is one of my favorite actors to work with and I couldn’t be more thrilled to have her reprise the role she so beautifully brought to life in the earlier films”
Among other cast there are such actors as Martin Freeman (Bilbo Baggins), Ken Stott (Dwarf Lord Balin), Sylvester McCoy (the wizard Radagast the Brown), Mikael Persbrandt from Sweden (the shape-shifter Beorn), Ryan Gage from Great Britain (Drogo Baggins), Jed Brophy from New Zealand (Nori the dwarf), and William Kircher (Bifur the dwarf).
The filming of The Hobbit will begin in February in New Zealand.
