Noah Wyle to star in Steven Spielberg's alien invasion series

It’s been almost two weeks since we heard rumors that star Noah Wyle was in the running to star in Steve Spielberg’s new alien invasion television series.  According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wyle has now officially signed on for the lead role.

Wyle is most well known for his portrayal of Dr. John Carter in a whopping 254 episodes of ER.

Spielberg’s new series, for the Turner Entertainment Network (TNT), takes place six months after a worldwide alien invasion and follows a group of everyday heroes who rise up to fight for the survival of humanity whilst attempting to preserve their own sense of morality.  The script is being put together by Saving Private Ryan Oscar nominee Robert Rodat from a story co-conceived with Spielberg.

We now know who the producer, writer and lead actor is, however we don’t yet know the name of the series.
