Danny Trejo and Kristine Klebe Cast in ‘Predators’?
The internet is flooding with reports that Danny Trejo, cult icon and star of the upcoming Machete, has been cast in Predators. The reports stem from a video interview that Trejo conducted at Horrorfind over the weekend.
When asked if he’ll be working on Predators, Trejo states, “Yeah, we’ll be doing Predator I think in about a month,” and then quickly calls actress Kristine Klebe over to the interview, indicating that by “we’re” he was referring to himself and Klebe.
Trejo never at any point states he nor Klebe has been cast in Predators, and neither did the interviewer seem to notice the connection. But given Klebe hasn’t starred in a flm with Trejo since Halloween, the timing of his dragging her into the interview certainly seems to fit with his statement “we’re doing Predator.”
Until an official cast announcement is made, take this as a “good rumor”, or make up your own mind by watching the video yourself.
Predators will be directed by Nimrod Antal for Robert Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios and Twentieth Century Fox.
This version of the Predator franchise will follow a similar path to James Cameron’s Aliens, where a group of humans will find themselves stranded and struggling to survive on a planet home to Predators.
The script is in the hands of writer Alex Litvak, a relatively unknown writer who has been charged with the task of reworking an original story written some fifteen years ago by Rodriguez himself that was deemed too epic to produce at that time.
The VFX company working on the film, KNB Effects Group, have ties to the original Predator film and have been quoted as saying their designs are going back to the original Predator design and that “fans will be happy.”
Predators will be released in theaters July 7, 2010.
