David Cronenberg to Remake ‘The Fly’
Director David Cronenberg is getting ready to make a new version of the 1986 sci-fi horror film The Fly.
Twentieth Century Fox, who released the 1986 film that starred Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis, are also behind the reboot.
This is one of the oddest reboot’s to be announced given that not only was Cronenberg the original writer/director of the film he intends to remake, but also that in the past he’s been very vocal about his intention not to become involved in such a remake.
Cronenberg’s The Fly, which was a remake of Kurt Neumann’s 1958 sci-fi film of the same name, followed Seth Brundle (Goldblum), a scientist whose DNA becomes bonded with that of a fly after a teleportation experiment goes wrong. The bonding leads to him transforming into a hideous monster.
No release details are available at this time.
