Details on the ‘Fringe’ Comic-Con Panel
The San Diego Comic-Con panel for Fringe took place on Saturday 25th and turned out to be one of the most enjoyable panels of the entire Comic-Con. Here’s what it delivered.
Attending the panel were writers Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzmann and Jeff Pinkner, actors Anna Torv, John Noble, Joshua Jackson, and Jasika Nicole.
Unfortunately no new footage was shown.
A few things were learned:
- Olivia’s conversation with William Bell from the end of season 1 will be shown, but it may not be at the beginning of the new season
- the Twin Towers were the location of choice for William Bell’s office as an easy way to demonstrate the events were in an alternate reality
- characters in season 2 will be less reactive to mysteries and more proactive since they will now have a better grasp of what is transpiring
- Jackson said he doesn’t really know his father in real life which adds some authenticity to his on-screen relationship with Walter
- the relationship between Walter and Peter will be strained by Walter’s secret (that Peter is kidnapped from an alternate reality whilst the real Peter is dead)
- Noble is like a father figure to the cast
- Leonard Nimoy will be appearing in season two as much as he can
- season 2 will see Astrid outside of the lab more than once
- characters will meet their alternate personalities – Walter will meet his at some point
Anna Torv joked: “I can’t wait to meet the parallel Olivia. She’s going to have a really thick Australian accent, and she’ll get to laugh.”
If you’re wondering, Anna Torv is Australian. In fact, so is John Noble.
On the exit of Kirk Acevedo (Charlie Francis), Executive producer Jeff Pinkner said: “Rumors of Charlie’s demise were premature. But I do think that Charlie’s going to undergo some drastic changes, which hopefully will be surprising and entertaining. And we’ve already met alternate Charlie as well. He had a scar on his face. Kirk’s part of our family.”
A new Fringe viral website was launched. Visit Complete the Pattern.com.
