‘Dune’ Remake: Peter Berg Aims For Hard PG-13 Rating

Dune

Director Peter Berg has updated MTV on his plans for his feature film version of Frank Herbert’s 1965 sci fi novel Dune.

In addition to what we learned in April and in August, Berg has now confirmed the studio will be aiming at a “hard PG-13″ rating with the potential for more than one film.

“There’s definitely a franchise potential,” Berg said, calling Josh Zetumer’s 200 page script a “a massive epic.”  He confirms that his team now has to “figure out how we can beat [the script] into something manageable without offending the purists, filmmakers have struggled [in the past] because it’s a very complicated book to crack.”

It should be noted because the script is still being worked, a green-light has yet to be given by Paramount Pictures.  If and when Paramount give the go ahead, it is doubtful the film will make it to screens before 2011/2012.
