Elizabeth Mitchell Joins The Cast Of ‘V: The Series’

Lost star Elizabeth Mitchell (aka Juliet) has been cast in V: The Series.
She joins Joel Gretsch (The 4400 / Minority Report / Push) who will play a Catholic priest, Scott Wolf (Double Dragon / White Squall / Party of Five ) and Morena Baccarin (Firefly / Serenity / Stargate SG-1) who plays the leader of the reptilian visitors.
V: The Series is being written for Warner Bros. Television by Scott Peters, who has worked on notable series such as The 4400, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, The Outer Limits, and Jericho.
It is believed Mitchell’s casting is for a guest star role in the pilot only.

If she is only making a guest appearance, why does your headline state that she is joining the cast of “V: The Series”?

Ah, I was wondering if anyone would ask this question.
First, the short answer – because she has been cast in the pilot, along with all the other cast. You could technically argue that all the cast members of V are guest stars, since before the series gets the full green-light the pilot must be well received, as is the case for nearly every series ever made. Further, the extent of her involvement in the pilot is not known. She may have a significant role for all we know. Officially she is however only appearing in the pilot.
But, that’s only ‘officially’. There’s another reason that I deliberately left out of the original article. But now that you’ve asked the question, here’s the longer answer.
POSSIBLE MAJOR LOST SPOILER TO FOLLOW
There is a rumor that her casting is more than just as a guest star, and that her true role in the series is being kept under wraps due to her role on Lost. The rumor (and I’ve already warned of spoilers…) is that her Lost character is one of the major characters to die at the end of the series of Lost, paving the way for her permanent involvement in V. If they announce that her V character will extend beyond the pilot, then the cat is out of the bag regarding the rest of Lost’s storyline.
This is, of course, all rumor. The official press release of her involvement with V identified her as a new cast member, then subsequent to fans tying that into a possible Lost death, it was followed up with a qualification that her joining the cast was ‘as a guest star’.
