A fan favorite villain in NBC’s Heroes is Eric Doyle the Puppet Master, a creepy and scary killer who possesses the power to take control of anyone’s body through the use of invisible puppet strings. In Episode 13 of Season 3, ‘Dual’, the Puppet Master finds himself going head to head with the biggest bad-boy of the series, Sylar, only to come off second best and be left bleeding and convulsing on the floor. We thought that was it for the Puppet Master – but thankfully, we thought wrong.
In the latest episode of Heroes, ‘Exposed’ (Season 3, Episode 18), Claire is shocked to find herself confronted by a not-so-dead Eric Doyle at the end of the episode. Doyle claims to need her help as a result of receiving a text message from the mysterious and as yet unexplained ‘Rebel’, setting the scene for a a new story arc involving his arch-creepiness that will begin unfolding as of next week’s episode, ‘Shades of Gray’.
Yesterday I caught up with the talented actor who brings the Puppet Master to life – David H. Lawrence XVII. David was kind enough to devote an hour of his hectic schedule to field a host of questions about both his personal and professional life, the future of Heroes, and of course his role as the sinister Eric Doyle - a character that David Lawrence states the producers of the series have big plans for. Obviously that’s a simplification because this is a long and insightful 53 minute telephone conversation. You’ll just have to listen in to find out more.
