First ‘Fissure’ Webisode Released

If you want the quick version (which doesn’t do the film the justice it deserves), Fissure is an indie thriller with a sci-fi twist. It follows Detective Paul Grunning (James MacDonald), a man with a tragic past who finds himself knee deep in a time bending situation where he must question his own mind and the nature of reality whilst racing to solve the mystery surrounding him before it is too late.
Fissure will be released on DVD on August 11, 2009, but between now and then Fissure’s filmmakers are taking an interesting and applaudable approach towards generating some excitement about their film – they are going to release the first 35 minutes of the movie as 9 free online webisodes. Why the first 35 minutes? Because 35 minutes into the film there’s a huge twist, and they hope that by the time you’ve watched the last webisode you’ll already be hooked and want to see the full movie to find out what happens next.
It’s a great idea and also serves to demonstrate their confidence in the quality of their award winning film. I highly recommend giving Fissure a look, so here’s the first of the 9 webisodes:

James MacDonald is a great actor, that’s pretty clear from this. He stood out in this clip – although it’s only 5 mins, I can already see why he won an acting award for this. Not much happened but I can see a scene is being set. I’ll look forward to part 2.
