K-9 will also be brought to the screen in CGI form.

The spinoff series will include 26 half-hour episodes (previously reported as only consisting of 13) that have been co-produced by the original creator of K-9, Bob Baker.   It stars Robyn Moore (Undead / The Horsemen) as June Turner, newcomer Daniel Webber as Darius, and Keegan Joyce (who appeared in Superman Returns) as Starkey.

The story will begin with K-9 being found on an abandoned battle cruiser.   According to various reports, K-9 will not be the same model as featured in Doctor Who or The Sarah Jane Adventures. In the new series he is supposedly a different model entirely – the first one to be precise.  It’s unclear whether the Doctor has even met this model.

K-9 is an Australian production by the Film Finance Corporation.   Air dates have not been confirmed but the first episodes are expected to air on Australia’s Network 10 later this year.
