The above image is the first image to surface from director Scott Stewart’s upcoming fantasy/horror/thriller Legion.

Legion takes place after God loses faith in mankind and sends a legion of angels to bring the apocalypse.  It follows a group of strangers who, whilst stranded in a remote truck stop diner, discover they are also stuck with a waitress who is pregnant with the messiah.  With the support of Archangel Michael (Paul Bettany) they become humanity’s last line of defence.

The film is the first time Stewart has sat in the directors chair. If you’re wondering how good this film will be with a first time director on board (who incidentally also wrote the screenplay) know that the director also has a host of uncredited work on his resume that includes involvement with such movies as Iron Man, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, Superman Returns, Sin City, and Blade Runner (The Final Cut Version).

Legion also sports an all star cast including Dennis Quaid (G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra / Pandorum / Flight of the Phoenix), Paul Bettany (Iron Man / The Da Vinci Code / Firewall), Doug Jones (Hellboy 2: The Golden Army / Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer), Tyrese Gibson (Transformers: Revenge of the fallen / Death Race), Kevin Durand (X-Men Origins: Wolverine / Walking Tall) and Lucas Black (The X Files / Jarhead).

The movie has come to the attention of many thanks to the posting of the following Comic-Con image by Maximum PC:
