First Look: ‘Universal Soldiers: The Next Generation’
IGN have posted a new image from the new Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren movie, Universal Soldiers: The Next Generation’.

Van Damme and Lundgren in 'Universal Soldiers: The Next Generation'
Universal Soldiers: The Next Generation is being billed as Universal Soldier 3, which is kind of weird given that it’s actually the fifth movie in the Universal Soldier series, although it is only the third to star Van Damme.
Universal Soldier was released in 1992, at which point Van Damme was 32 years old. He’s now 48. Lundgren is 51 – you can do the math on how old he was in 1992. Really it’s quite amazing to think of Stallone, Van Damme and Lundgren simultaneously making action flicks all these years later (not forgetting that Lundgren is actually starring in Stallone’s The Expendables). Interestingly Van Damme apparently turned down an offer from Stallone to star in The Expendables. The story goes he wanted a role with more character development…
*The following synopsis might be considered to have minor spoilers*
The story of The Next Generation surrounds a maniacal Chechen nationalist by the name of Basayev who seizes control of what’s left of Chernobyl, threatening to unleash a radioactive cloud unless his demands are met. Luc Devereaux (Van Damme) joins a team of revived UniSoldiers with the mission to retake Chernobyl and deactivate the explosives rigged by Basayev. Devereaux finds one of the reactivated soldiers is a clone of his old Seargent, Andrew scott (Lundgren). But the cloned Scott doesn’t have any memory of Devereaux so it seems they might stay friends…or not. It seems the cloned Scott has a mind-control chip implanted, and Baseyev has control of it.

Universal Soldiers: The Next Generation is currently filming with an as yet unannounced release date (sometime in 2009 is all we know).

It’s been a while and its seems that there is the first two replies I made during the month of June. Hopefully The movie comes out soon to theaters or straight to DVD, I’m still anxious to see a trailer or new stills or any type of news about the movie. I wonder if the Video Game industry interested in making it a Video Game.
