‘Fringe’ Season 2 Casting Sides Raise An Interesting Question

SpoilerTV have posted the casting sides for a new Fringe character by the name of Sonia Curtis (who according to hand-written notes was formerly known as Katherine). If these are actual scenes from the upcoming season, what we learn here are spoilers, so be warned!
Sonia is a police officer of six years who becomes a new FBI agent. In the script she’s investigating the disappearance of another agent, who vanished from his car a split second before it is involved in a collision.
In another scene she talks about joining “Division 99.” Another character named Nate describes the division as “the dark pernicious armpit of the physical universe.” Nate appears to have a shady past but is now in “save the world” mode while looking out for his “batshit-crazy” scientist brother Owen, with whom Sonia is in love. In a subsequent scene it appears that a function of Division 99 may include what Sonia describes as murder, and in another scene an agent says, “sensitive information from our division must be treated like a virus,” with Sonia responding “and your first response is containment?”
The man who was murdered was Owen, and it is implied Sonia may have somehow been responsible for his death. At the end it also appears Sonia may be in danger from the Division too.
There are definitely some strong parallels between these characters and the principals of Fringe. Are Sonia, Owen and Nate alternate-reality versions of Olivia, Walter and Peter?

Sonia is a cop from Detroit turned new FBI agent in a special investigative division. The love of her life is killed and she may be responsible.
At the scene of a crime Owen is talking to pigeons and Nate comments on it exactly how Peter would comment on Walter’s eccentric behavior.
Sonia comments that Nate is babysitting Owen.
Yep, this all reads like versions of the main characters from another reality. It’s certainly sounding like a different kind of reality version of the main characters – a distant one, but definitely with major similarities.
Will this be the team they have to battle against in the coming reality war, or will they end up being an ally?

I think we have enough to deal with in the current universe to mess with another one…but it seems inevitable. Just hope it doesn’t become the next Heroes with the ‘alternate’ versions of characters…
