You edited your message, but you’re still staying there’s been no official word. Yes, there has. FOX released its midseason schedule right before Thanksgiving. A great many sites put it out, including The Live Feed (the link I gave you in my first comment). The dates are confirmed, by FOX itself. The press release clearly states new episodes of Fringe start on January 14th and will air until Feb. 4th.
But go ahead, continue to deny and look like a fool, when everyone else already knows the schedule *has* been put out. And if you don’t take The Hollywood Reporter (Live Feed) seriously, I don’t really know what to say. It’s one of the most important industry sources out there, even more so than TVGuide or E!Online. But hey, if you’ll take The Live Feed’s (as also picked up by Rueters) word, here’s the New York Times:

How can Olivia’s partner be back in this episode?!?!?!?! He was dead, killed by the others from the other universe who shaped changed into him form! Major goof here or an episode WAY out of sequence! Can someone please explain?
January 13th, 2010 at 9:04 pm
can anyone tell me why Charlie isn`t dead pls?
January 13th, 2010 at 9:05 pm
i think he was killed by the shapeshifter
January 14th, 2010 at 12:16 pm
this is very bothersome! i am quite confused as well about charlie! and as the season re-opener to have such a conflict without explination makes it really hard to grasp the reasoning behind the show. NOT cool!
January 14th, 2010 at 1:45 pm
Yes,that is stupid, that Charlie is back, with no real answer.Do not tell me this is the “Bobby Ewing effect”?!?I hope they are not that dumb. Please, help me understand this.
January 14th, 2010 at 2:39 pm
First I thought this episode was from the other side, but Peter’s in it, so I guess not. Have no clue why he isn’t dead ..
January 14th, 2010 at 2:43 pm
Oh, just found out that it was an episode from season 1 (episode 21) – guess that explains it
January 14th, 2010 at 6:41 pm
i realy dont understand. what da hell was that? not even a clue about charlie or the timeline of this episode…maybe on the future…
January 14th, 2010 at 6:53 pm
Ya that’s what I was wondering he Died in Episode 1 of season 2. his body was burned & the align guy was shot in the head he is dead WTF
January 14th, 2010 at 6:58 pm
How did Charlie make it back in the show? Did we miss some episode in the middle?
January 14th, 2010 at 7:09 pm
Monday’s episode of Fringe was an unaired episode from Season 1 that happened before Charlie got killed by the shapeshifter…and then Olivia killed Shapeshifter Charlie…
January 15th, 2010 at 12:23 am
Yeah i have the same doubt about charlie as urda, it’s strange charlie was killed by the shapeshifter and burned and olivia killed the shapeshifter, and there it is charlie back from the dead <.< and as himself. WTF?!?
January 15th, 2010 at 4:13 pm
Why did they name it Episode 11 for season 2 then?
January 15th, 2010 at 7:16 pm
This is a common move for TV shows to make. It really only boils down to pure laziness. The episode was shot for season 1 but never got a chance to air. This season they needed something to air without having the actors come in during the break, so they reached into their file and pulled this out. Lazy, yes, but like the second Highlander movie, you just have to ignore it and not hate the show for it. Higher up executives demand things like this to the shagrin of the producers/writers.

that’s just plain lame to do something like that….i quit fringe.
January 18th, 2010 at 10:08 pm
oh that explains it!thanks Mark.
atleast we’ve got an episode to watch, and its nice to see Charlie again.

Guess nobody saw the promotions that FOX aired days before they run the episode from season 1. They CLEARLY Stated that it was a “TOKEN TO THEIR FANS” “A MISSING EPISODE FROM SEASON 1″ …. SOOOOO
Simple and clear: People don’t listen and then complain!
Also, they have a schedule that it comes from the hi execs of the network. IF (like it happened with unearthed) THEY CAN’T HAVE (for whatever reason) THE EPISODES EDITED OR FINISHED and they need more time, INSTEAD OF MOVING THE DATE FOR THE RESTART OF THE SEASON, THEY USE THE OLD FILLER UPS! Well they found a “CREATIVE” way this time and INSTEAD OF RE RUN THE LAST EPISODE FROM SEASON 2, they came up with the whole TOKEN TO THE FANS…
Just do not tie this episode to the rest. Enjoy it as is. And wait for the following week. By the way
ANY WORD ON SEASON 3?
January 20th, 2010 at 7:34 pm
Thanks for letting all of us know that Season “2″, Episode “11″ is really Season 1, “Missing” Episode 21 M and Unknown2. All through the show I was trying to figure out what the heck was going on.

I understand why Charie re appeared on this episode, but if they kept this one unaired because of a lack of time.. then why they didn’t started season 2 with this episode and then as a second episode the one when Charlie dies??? Would’ve had more sense…
February 2nd, 2010 at 4:07 pm
Thanks everyone for clearing that up. As soon as I saw him I thought WTF!?!? but that makes sense.
March 4th, 2010 at 6:40 pm
FrannyC,
I really don’t think you should judge people or assume they weren’t ‘listening’ & that’s why they didn’t know why Charlie was in this episode. Personally, I just started watching Fringe (starting w/ season 1) & I don’t have cable or satellite so how would I have known about the ‘token to the fans’ comment? Lighten up & please keep rude comments to yourself.

Oh well…I was confused, but quickly hopped off my spin bike and hopped onto my computer. I got my answer in seconds. The episode is good (the girl looks a lot like Brittany Murphy) and I can now watch it without obsessing about it being out of order. Maybe a disclaimer at the episode’s beginning would have been a good idea.
June 4th, 2010 at 8:17 pm
It WAS nice to see Charlie again. It totally sucked that they killed him off. :/
July 3rd, 2010 at 6:29 pm
Besides Charlie you should also be realise that ajan farnswood hair is also long not cut. This explains tha this episode was from 1st season. And yes that is lame , lazy and stupid but as Mark said dont hate the Fringe just because that =)
July 4th, 2010 at 10:43 pm
lol… It’s agent farnsworth, astrid farnsworth
July 13th, 2010 at 1:17 am
season 2 is filmed in vancouver so when i saw episode 11 i thought why would they go back east to film an episode?
they are working on season 3 right now – filming downtown monday july 12

What makes this more farcical is that they could have rectified this by changing the order for the dvd release but they have kept it the way they aired it
