I saw the observer outside of the church. He walked behind Olivia during her conversation with the mother.

    Well Fox,
This episode can’t be from the anternative universe, because Peter wouldn’t be there. I agree it could be from season 1, but as far as season 2 is concerned, it would have to fall between episode 1 and episode 4 for continuity’s sake. But, even then, it wouldn’t work because it really was a shapeshifter not Charlie. Just a bit confusing that it wasn’t included in the Season One set as a bonus episode.

uhhh, when is it specified there is only one alternate universe? Anyone that’s going incorporate that plot option would be foolish to somehow limit it to one alternative. Infinite alternate universes.

I was confused when I watched this episode. Charlie was in it without explanation. The last time I saw Charlie he was killed by Olivia because he was possesed by a shapeshifter.

To the poster “T”: I’ve read interviews with JJ Abrams (perhaps in his Wired issue…) where he has specifically stated that there’s just the two universes. As to whether that will keep being the case, who knows. I think they just needed a filler episode to go against Chuck, or whatever (Fox was premiering all sorts of stuff to fight the first two or three eps of S3 of Chuck…), on a special night, and figured a “fit anywhere” episode would be good to lure in new viewers…
