Two weeks ago we unofficially learned that Resident Evil 4, titled Resident Evil: Afterlife was in development.  Star Milla Jovovich also hinted filming was likely to start at the end of 2009 and Shock Till You Drop reported that Sony were aiming to release it in theaters on September 17, 2010.

Coming Soon have now confirmed the above release date noting also that Production Weekly have reported the new film has been locked into an 8-week shooting schedule at Cinespace Film Studios in Toronto.  Filming appears set to begin September 28th to a script penned byResident Evil writer/producer Paul W. S. Anderson.

A director has not yet been announced.
