‘G.I. Joe’ Sequel Announced
After surpassing box office expectations over the weekend with a whopping $100M worldwide haul, Paramount has confirmed G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra will get a sequel.
The studio’s vice chairman, Rob Moore, also confirmed that the lead actors in the film are contractually obligated to return for the sequel, although apparently director Stephen Sommers is under no such obligation.
No further details are to hand.
Interesting tidbit: Internationally G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra out-performed Star Trek in its opening weekend. Star Trek raked in about $35M whilst G.I. Joe scored $44M.

HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You Paramount morons are sooooooooooo dumb!!!!!! HA HAA HAHAHA!! The only reason you did so well on opening is that GI JOE has been a staple for decades. You let us DOWN!! I guarantee you that GI JOE the sequel will go the way of the dodo-you won’t make any money seeing as your first movie was L-A-M-E! I am the ultimate Joe fan-always have been-and you don’t do not know how to do the JOE series!!! Am I the only sane one here????

I just love the movie ”G.I.JOE -The rise of Cobra”
I’m waiting for the sequel!!!
I like very much the hero: ”Spirit Iron Knife”. I hope to see him in the sequel. With a young actor like Billy Wirth. I like Wes Studi, but i think this hero must be not much older than Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes…

All I have to say is the first one was a great action flick and I highly anticipate the Sequel. Also the older generations of G.I. Joe fans have to understand that there will be differences between these movies and the cartoons we grew up with. There are not a lot of people who grew up on the cartoons that are gonna like the movies. It’s just like the Transformer movies. All of these movies are not gonna be follow exactly like the T.V. shows which they are based on. I think that’s why some people are dissappointed with them. They go to the movies and expect to see the exact same thing from the past and then they are let down. These movies are for this generation of fans, so take a chill pill and enjoy the ride.

first off. the movie was actually quite good for how unrealistic all this stuff is. its hard to make a movie about futurisitic technology and weapons and place it in a time when its not actually possible. the Movie was quite good though, fight scenes were entertaining, there was good character dialoge and background. they developed all the characters and left the movie in a spot to start a sequel.
if you were a true gi joe fan edward u wouldnt be dissing on the movie. it was quite good. and the sequel will not tank bascially because its going to be action packed. you are a moron. your not sane. and u suck at giving comment about movies. you still saw the movie even though u didnt like it., and u will see the second one even though u think it will suck., so just shut up and enjoy the series.

I grew up on Joe cartoons and just showed season 1.1 to my kid. He loved the movie. Of course the movie isn’t going to be like the tv show. But what were you expecting? A complete recreation of “Pyramid of Darkness”? How about Cobra attacking a caravan headed somewhere with important technology at the beginning of the movie — exactly like the cartoon. I laughed out loud when Duke got captured…like he always did in the cartoons. I’d say this was way closer to what I grew up with than Transformers was. Oh yeah, last I checked the hot girls in G.I. Joe actually had a purpose other than to say stupid dialogue and for the viewer to oggle at every square inch of them…so one up on the Transformers movie.

G I JOE is a fun movie something a little different to the norm. It is a thrill ride, this was not made to win oscars just to be very good entainment. Bring on the sequel Stephen Sommers does these kind of movies because he knows what people like to see. It is up to individual choice of course.
Stephen Sommers in many ways is underated, the mummy films did great box office and that is the name of the game like it or not.
G I JOE is the same it has done far better than expected, when the trailers were first shown at my local cinema, the whispers going round the audience were very positive, as i had never seen such a postive reaction to a movie trailer before. A job well done.

Well, the first G.I. Joe movie was good, but it wasn’t great. I mean I expect it to be more dramatic. You know, more serious. If you make the sequal, I hope it would be better. If you put Lady Jaye in it, I hope you get either Christina Milian or Beyonce to play her. You got Marlin Waynes to play Ripcord. So why not get either those girls to play Lady Jaye.

Hi! Me again. I just thought that you should put in another female character in the g.i. joe sequel. Her name is Zarana and I think you should get Lindsey Lohan to play her. I also think that you should put in Flint and get Mark Wahlberg for him.

Some great suggestions in ther Alex let’s hope the movie bosses pick em up. The thought of Toby Stephens snarling away as Major Bludd is terrific! With Adam Beach as Airborne and Dane Cook as Clutch, Thomas Jane as Rock N Roll, Thomas Hayden Church as Wild Bill, and Michael Spears or Billy Wirth as Spirit it would be cool! Throw in some wrestler type guys as the dreadnoks and we have the makings of a classic. Yo Joe!
