Halcyon Seeking Strategic Alternatives for ‘Terminator’
Earlier this month at a Los Angeles bankruptcy hearing Derek Anderson and Victor Kubicek’s Halcyon Holding Group, the producers behind Terminator Salvation, were granted a breather to continue operating and, in turn, to continue with the opportunity to develop Terminator 5.
On the verge of closing down at the beginning of September 2009, the ruling granted them access to much needed cash in the form of some $2.1M in tax rebates and gave them the right to seek additional cash collateral to finance continued operations.
The LA Times are now reporting that Halcyon have engaged financial advisory firm FTI Capital Advisors to handle their financial strategy going forward.
“We’re going to be contacting a variety of studios and independent companies,” said Kevin Shultz, senior managing director at FTI. “We think the values are considerably in excess of the purchase price.”
Anderson and Kubicek have been very vocal about their intention to retain rights to the Terminator franchise, so it’s my guess these strategies will be more geared towards gaining investors rather than selling their rights outright, especially since Terminator is the primary asset of their company. Nonetheless, some sites are speculating the possibility still exists that the rights to Terminator may change hands once again.
Whatever occurs will still require court approval, but I think it is safe to assume that one way or the other Terminator 5 will continue moving forward. If Halcyon merely bring in capital partners, they will continue to develop Terminator 5. If the franchise is sold entirely, whoever buys it would obviously have such an intention. Either way, unless absolutely no one is interested (and word is Sony have shown some), Terminator 5 will happen.

just do not make any more terminator related stuff, no one cared much after 2, Salvation if not titled terminator ans listed as action film instead of sci fi would be a OK movie but that is it

I`d rather continue the series TSCC with the same actors instead…
But since that is not going to happen please do not bring back Christian Bale as John Connor, he cannot become John Connor.
