‘Halo’ Feature Film on Hold

Halo: The Fall of Reach

A few days ago IESB reported that they’d confirmed exclusively that Steven Spielberg was in active negotations to develop a live-action feature film based on the video game Halo.

Microsoft own the rights to Halo, and a Microsoft spokesperson has responded by confirming the Halo feature film is on hold.

We’re glad there’s still a lot of enthusiasm in the entertainment industry surrounding the idea of a Halo movie. That said, the Halo feature film remains on hold as we focus on projects like Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach.

Spielberg is said to be “blown away” by writer Stuart Beattie’s screenplay Halo: The Fall of Reach, so perhaps if his involvement becomes official Microsoft might accelerate their plans.

In the meantime Halo fans will just have to be patient.
