Yesterday we reported that Linkin Park and Hans Zimmer were working on the score to Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. At the time, no one seemed to know what this development meant for Steve Jablonsky’s score.
We can now clarify exactly what is going on, the most important part being the news that Steve Jablonsky is still the music composer behind Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
Steve kindly took the time out of his busy schedule to contact us and clarify the situation. This is what he told us:
In a nutshell, Michael Bay sent the new Linkin Park song over to my studio. Hans and I had a listen, and we both thought it was really cool, and it might be interesting to try incorporating some of those elements into the score. So we got the guys from the band down to the studio and talked about how to do that. They’re all really cool guys and really excited about adding some of their sounds to the score.
But I am still the composer on this film. It has all gotten rather complicated. The film is BIG, and now that we’ve got Linkin Park involved, Hans has kind of been helping me keep the production on track, because I’m so focused on writing the score at the moment.
So good news all round as we can now expect a brilliant Steve Jablonsky score with the involvement of legend Hans Zimmer and Linkin Park.
If you don’t know much about Jablonsky’s original score to the first Transformers movie, then you’re missing out. We highly suggest you grab yourself a copy. You can hear a few snippets in the MP3 widget below:
