According to The Dominion Post actor Jay Laga’aia is in talks with George Lucas to star in the upcoming live-action Star Wars television series.

Laga’aia previously starred as Captain Typho in both Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones.   It’s too early to say if he will be reprising the same role or if he’s in talks for something different.

From The Dominion Post:

“It’s one of those things that people sort of take for granted you worked on the first one, so … we’re in discussion at the moment because I’m interested in playing a couple of roles.   You find with those sort of roles you can play different characters some are heavily made up, others aren’t,” Jay Laga’aia said.

The New Zealander currently plays Chase in Legend of the Seeker, the popular series based upon Terry Goodkind’s ‘Sword of Truth’ book series.

The Star Wars television series is said to follow the Rebel Alliance as it gains strength, set between the events of Episode III and the beginning of Episode IV.   The concept has taken a great deal of flak from fans who have voiced their concern that the series will not contain Jedi’s or Darth Vader.   Many are claiming that Star Wars without the Force isn’t Star Wars.

It should however be pointed out that at no time has it been said that the series would not feature Sith – the evil wielders of the Force.

No production or release dates are available.
