Legend of the Seeker has won the Emmy for Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score).

The award goes to music composer Joseph LoDuca for his superb score to the first Legend of the Seeker episode, ‘Prophecy’.

LoDuca’s score took out fellow nominees Castle, Ghost Whisperer, The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency, and 24. Bear McCreary’s Battlestar Galactica was snubbed from the nominations.

If you haven’t heard the score to Legend of the Seeker it is definitely praise worthy.  You can hear four short snippets of score from the show on Joe LoDuca’s official website here, though they are so short they’re hardly worth the effort.

Sadly no soundtrack has been released from the series although after receiving an Emmy for it one would think the chances just increased. Until then you’ll have to watch the show to hear the score.

Legend of the Seeker returns with 22 new episodes on Saturday, November 7 2009.
