Life Imitates The Art Of True Blood

Tru Blood

The hit vampire series True Blood has its name derived from the fictional synthetic blood in the series that, thanks to being bottled and commercialized under the brand name ‘Tru Blood’, has enabled vampires to come out of the closet.

In what can be described as perhaps another instance of life imitating art, British Scientists report that they are on track towards making synthetic blood as part of a three year project.

From The Daily Mail:

British scientists are on course to become the first to create synthetic human blood from embryonic stem cells, it emerged today.

The ground-breaking project could provide an unlimited supply of blood for emergency transfusions free of the risk of infection.

If successful, it remains unclear how long it will take them to bottle it…
