New ‘Terminator Salvation’ TV Spot: CG Schwarzenegger
A new TV Spot has been released to promote Terminator Salvation that includes footage of a CG-rendered Arnold Schwarzenegger. This is an interesting development given that Schwarzenegger was reluctant to approve his virtual appearance in the film for fear of the extent of his involvement being misrepresented through promotion. Here’s what he said way back in March to The Arnold Fans:
To kind of have them go out and promote the movie and say you know Arnold is in the movie and everyone thinks that I’m the Terminator and in fact you only see one second of me in there and so I don’t think thats the right thing to do. And you know that’s the danger of that, and that’s why I feel reluctant to be part of the movie in the first place. So it doesn’t get promoted that way.
Perhaps Terminator Salvation’s struggling box office performance has led to this, perhaps there was an ‘out’ in Schwarzenegger’s clause, or perhaps Schwarzenegger kindly allowed the studio to promote him this way after all. Whatever the reason, you can now watch his brief appearance in the following TV Spot:
Remember, don’t get too excited – Schwarzenegger’s T-800 only turns up for a moment in the film before he gets mangled beyond recognition.

It looks good, but his eyes look too intelligent. It spoils the illusion

I think CGI Arnold looked okay. The only exaggeration was his mouth and the fact that he looked too “pissed off” when he bursts through the door. Overall it was good.
