New ‘Doctor Who’ Logo and Set Pics

The new Doctor Who logo – the one that will accompany the new Doctor, Matt Smith – has been released (above).

The logo is the 11th different logo used in the show’s history and it will be seen when Matt Smith’s on-screen debut occurs in the Spring of 2010.

“A new logo. The 11th logo for the 11th Doctor – those grand old words, Doctor Who, suddenly looking newer than ever,” Steven Moffat, the new Lead Writer and Executive Producer of the show said.

Coinciding with the release is an animated insignia of the show’s initials in the form of a TARDIS shape.  You can watch that below.

Additionally, a few images from the set of filming the latest Doctor Who episode have turned up online, showing Matt Smith still dressed in David Tennant’s old garb.  Initial pics released of Smith were clearly from a later episode (episodes are filmed out of order).

Check out the gallery below:

The final three episodes featuring David Tennant will be broadcast later this year on BBC One, though no exact dates have been announced.
