‘Underworld 4′ in Development

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans

Screen Gems are moving ahead to produce a fourth Underworld film.

The studio is apparently pleased with the performance of the third film, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, which earned $91.1M from a budget of $35M (not counting DVD/Blu-ray sales).

I thought Rise of the Lycans was excellent and will look forward to the new film – although I hope the new film will also be set in the past.  The whole Underworld concept seemed to work so much better with a more mythological, medieval setting.

For now there are no extra details about what the fourth film will entail or who will star.  All we know is that it will be filmed in 3-D with an intended release date of January 2011.

Well, the underworld series deserves a fourth installment, it deserves to be categorised as a “franchise”, we should be out there creating spin off tv shows and games, this franchise has not recieved the attention it deserves.
