No ‘Avatar’ for the Chinese
According to a report published in the Times, the Chinese government has decided to stop the screening of Avatar and instead screen a patriotic film. Avatar was enjoying a great run and was expected to collect a total of 500 million Yuan but the China Film Group felt something wrong about the film and decided to stop its screening. The Chinese government feels that the James Cameron movie may incite violence as many people may draw a connection between the plight of Na’vi people in Avatar and the Chinese land-losers who are being evicted by the land sharks. Well, this is very unfortunate for the Chinese moviegoers as they are certainly going to miss out on one of the brilliant movies of all time.

“they are certainly going to miss out on one of the brilliant movies of all time”
lol?
My opinion is that Avatar is just a cute movie with many special effects, yet another movie with an environmentalist message (like many other films of recent years).
The story is the same as other cheap SciFi (only this one cost more ). If we remove the 3D effects I don’t know if it’s worth to see the movie.
This does not mean it’s not a good movie, just not the best (it can, probably, compete in the “best” animated SciFi movie category)!
The storyline we know from The Last Samurai, special effects we saw in Alien … all it was left was watching them in 3D.
“A jelly breathed, stuffed with plenty of technology, just-just we (we = Avatar producer/aso) might get something” as a friend said the other day. Nothing new in the message (the Cinema is in a major impasse).
And I do not understand what’s with this “tsunami” caused by Avatar: the ‘conspiracy’ and that ‘people cut their veins’ and ‘cults appearing’ after seeing the movie…
I really think this is only: SENSATIONAL, INCREDIBLE, UNIMAGINABLE and FAKE “news” promoted by the media! Like all the news we hear/read today.
Stop dreaming people and put the bone to work!
In the end,
Considering how much it was mediated, Avatar, is below my expectations (the 3D version raise him a bit, but not that much).
I recommend those excited for this “thing” to grab a book to read.
Higher cost does not mean quality!
therefore
Higher income does not mean quality!

Yeah, if Avatar had not had all the fancy effects or a famous director, it would just be another cool action film. Without the hype of the 3D stuff, it probably wouldn’t have been nearly as successful. It was a brilliant movie and the effects were really cool, but 3D Star Wars would be so much cooler in my opinion. The Star Wars effects seem much more real.

@Me: Avatar is an awesome movie and i respectfully disagree with Ur view that if the movie didn’t have special effects it wouldn’t have done well
its true a lot of movies leave an environmental message (save the environment blah blah blah ) but my personal opinion was it showed how ruthless inconsiderate and greedy the human race is!! Name one guy who was on the side of the humans ??? The dialog “they killed their mother” were like a thousand arrows piercing my heart!!!
i am not saying that ur wrong the special effects did make us say ooooohhhhhh and aaaaaahhhhhhhh but the bond between the Na’vi Clan and the animals and ayewa was awesome
Not arguing just want to make a point
