Noah Wyle to star in Steven Spielberg's new alien invasion series?

Almost a month ago we learned Steven Spielberg was on board to executive produce a new but as yet untitled sci-fi series for the Turner Entertainment Network (TNT).

The series takes place six months after a worldwide alien invasion and follows a group of everyday heroes who rise up to fight for the survival of humanity whilst attempting to preserve their own sense of morality.

Ausiello is now reporting that star Noah Wyle is being lined up by Spielberg to star in the new series.  Wyle is most well known for his portrayal of Dr. John Carter in a whopping 254 episodes of ER.

This is the first whisper of casting that we’ve heard on what is essentially a super secret project (at least at this stage).

The only other piece of interesting info that we know of is the script is being put together by Saving Private Ryan Oscar nominee Robert Rodat from a story co-conceived with Spielberg.

A great producer, great screenplay writer, and now (unofficially) a great lead actor.  Things are starting to look very promising for this series.

More news as it comes to hand.
