Paramount Ignore Michael Bay When Setting Transformers 3 Date

Yesterday it was announced that Paramount had green-lit Transformers 3 and that the release date for the third movie in the franchise would be July 1, 2011.  Now that date is in question after Michael Bay publicly announced in his forum that he never agreed to this date.

From Shoot For The Edit:

I said I was taking off a year from Transformers. Paramount made a mistake in dating Transformers 3 – they asked me on the phone – I said yes to July 4 – but for 2012 – whoops! Not 2011!!! That would mean I would have to start prep in September. No way. My brain needs a break from fighting robots.

So it seems either Paramount will be forced to shift the release date of Transformers 3 back a year or Michael Bay won’t be at the helm.  It would seem an idiotic move to not have Bay at the helm given the financial success of the first movie and the anticipated success of the second, and so odds are it won’t be long before the date is shifted.
