‘Predators’ Script Details Unveiled
The first details on the story premise for director Nimrod Antal’s Predators have been revealed thanks to Latino Review who managed to score a peek at the draft screenplay dated July 12, 2009.
They’ve compiled a pretty cool video to present a summary of what they read and their thoughts, which you can watch here. Alternatively, I’ve extracted a summary of their report which you can read after the jump.
Whether you read or watch the video, I suggest a big spoiler warning is necessary as the summary gives away a fair chunk of the story.
Here’s the synopsis:
Prior to the credits the hero of the story, Royce, is introduced. He’s chasing an adversary down on a rooftop. The chase ends with Royce killing his opponent, the whole time being watched by a Predator. The Predator then kidnaps him. The credits roll, after which the film cuts to Royce free falling at 160mph towards the surface of the Predator homeworld. After parachuting to safety, he soon encounters seven other humans who have all been dropped to the surface. The Predator homeworld is like the jungle from the cretaceous period and it serves as a giant game preserve – where humans are the game. All eight humans are then pack hunted by Predator dogs, Predator falcons and a giant Super Predator referred to as the ‘Black Super Predator’. The Black Super Predator leads a hunting party of two other Super Predators. The eight humans go on the run once they realize they are prey in a macabre game of cat and mouse. At the midpoint of the film Royce and the remaining humans hook up with American soldier Nolan, another human who was dropped onto the world but who has managed to remain in hiding in a cave. He tells them the Predators have been dropping humans into the game preserve for years.
Latino Review state the actual script was awesome, referring to it as “a 90 page kick ass sci-fi action movie” that is “a bloody, violent hard-ass script reminiscent of the original.” They also provide a run down of the characters in the film, as follows:
- Cuchillo – a Mexican enforcer from a drug cartel with twin oozies
- Nikolai – a bear sized Russian armed with a 4 barreled gas powered rotary machine gun
- Isabelle – a tough as nails woman armed with a sniper rifle who speaks French
- Stans a – prisoner with a shaved head and scorpion tattoo, armed with a prison made knife
- Mombasa an African member of the Sierra Leone death squad
- Hanzo – a bad ass Japanese Yakuza enforcer
- Edwin – a small unassuming man, formerly one of the FBI’s most wanted
Finally, and again a big spoiler alert, Latino Review also confirm a cameo from Arnold Schwarzenegger is written into the script.
The script was originally written by Robert Rodriguez about fifteen years ago as a sequel to Predator. His script has since been revised by relative unknowns Alex Litvak and, according to Latino Review, writer Mike Finch. I hadn’t heard of Finch’s involvement before Latino Review’s report.
The only cast member unofficially announced to date is Danny Trejo (Machete), although I speculate Kristine Klebe may also have been cast. Both names are in the hat after Trejo himself suggested the two were in Predators at Horrorfind over the weekend.
Predators will be released July 7, 2010.

…If you had cited any other source than Latino Review, I’d be looking forward to this particular version. However, LR is about as reliable as your average drugged-out hippie on the street, having proved their lack of credibility years ago over the “Jango Fett makes Mexicans look bad” claims.

I really hope this is not the real script. It sounds absolutely terrible. The characters already look cardboard and stereotypical.

Why waste time to come to earth and snag humans to hunt on your own homeworld? when you can simply hunt them on earth?
makes no sence,and how would anyone get back from the pred planet if they end up winning? sounds like everyone dies no matter what.
why waste the gas?
there are plenty of wars going on on earth and jungles for preds to hunt on and make another predator like flick…
i mean come on,they can be invisible so nobody can see them anyways,so why go to earth,go back to they;’re homeworld and drop them off to hunt? no logic and most likely this script is bogus or is wrong or it’s a fake.
these twits making the movie should of thought prequel to the original predator and called it predators and used the same jungle
and told the tale of what happened to jim hopper and his men before arnold showed up.
for all we know there were multiple predators,and jim hopper and crew managed to kill off most until the last one,who ends up winning and killing them all in the very end and skinning them,the very same predator dutch and crew get to encounter when they show up,but of course in the end,dutch takes care of it and wins it back for everyone else…
it would of made a nice tie in to the first pred movie.
and you end the movie with dutch and his dropping down the ropes from the choppa to start they’re adventure…
to me,this would be smart… you get the same jungle! you get more preds to kill and fight.. and you also get the original predator back for one more show.

basicly it’s the same movie with more preds,same jungle!
many deaths… preds get wasted,it’s a real human versus pred mini war in the jungle,and just when hopper thinks he has won and is the last man standing? the last pred shoves his blades through his chest as a surprize semi ending and we also get to see the pred skin him and hang him up with the rest of his men,the same spot where billy discovers them! get it?
then the final ending?
dutch and his men come in with they’re choppa and sling down the ropes to start they’re mission….
can ya see my greatness in thinking here?
this idea of bringing men to a pred homeworld wont work,for how can the humans get back home if they somehow win?
will the preds be that honrable and bring them back if the humans win? and why waste the gas and time when u can simply hunt them on earth? no reason to take them to your homeworld..
predators hunt anywhere they want.. any planet.. they go out and hunt.. thats hunting.. you dont bring the hunt to yourself.
i like my prequel idea better and it would work and be better then the original with the script i have made…

one by one they fall to predators and of course they manage to kill off 3 other preds who are also there for the hunt with the original predator…. but ya only think there is 3 the whole time.. sure we know what happens to jim hopper and his men,but we have yet to see how and the story,and let’s face it,these movies are about survival.. guns… gore.. death… suspence… horror.. blood.. red and green baby!
to make a great predator film u must keep it simple and serious
and get good actors. the story is always simple.. survive or die and what happens to each of them as they die or prevail and manage to kill off a predator…
i wish i was rich … i’d make this film and ya know what?
it would get nothing but praise from all fan bases around the globe. i know what the fans want.. i know how perfect the original was… from start to finish.. it wouldn’t be a copy to some extent,rather a connection to what happened before dutch showed up with his team.. you could watch this prequel then predator and see how it all fits and works. and u would dig it..

well all this time there were more preds before dutch and dillon dhowed up.. hopper and his men managed to kill off 3 of them,but lost to the final pred who dutch gets to kill…

this movie may be good. If you read the original script was written like 15 years ago…..and he named it Predators like they did aliens instead of aliens 2…………and sure the predators may take people back to their planet……when the first one was on earth he had no idea what to encounter, obvious because he got owned….so if they just go and pick up a group on their own, they know what to expect and they won’t have to use all of the gear that they have had in previous movies, it looks like from screen shots they are going without it at least in some of the movie. I think it the movie will be better then the AVP movies but i don’t know if it will be better then the original movie. Hopefully it will be, this is a franchise that needs to be refreshed.

That is actually not a bad idea at all. That prequel one, I mean. It doesn’t need to have anything to do with this upcoming film though, and can still be done later. For example, Underworld used a similar sequence. First sequel then a prequel. That “what happened to Jim Hopper” could be an interesting look, but you have to stop referring to it as a script. All you have is a general idea – if you actually had a script you could probably pitch it to the studio or even to Rodrgiquez.
I am a big Predator fan, but I hate all the comics and crap that followed attempting to capitalize on the universe the movie created. They are just badass warriors and hunters from another world and what makes them so awesome is the way they hunt and their exotique weaponry. The newer the weapons, the more complex the setting and the more intense the fight is what makes this franchise so good. Unfortunately the only thing that they have succeeded so far is showing new weaponry. The setting sucked balls, and the fighting was borderline ridiculous, but I blame the latter on the lack of sufficiently varried prey for the hunters.
And also, the most amazing Predator is obviously from the Requiem. The one hunter killing machine that was almost unstoppable and brutal in all aspects. These hunters are supposed to be agile and fast and I am hoping that this “BLACK SUPER PREDATOR” doesn’t equal an oversized tank of a hunter that can barely walk, much less stalk prey. Predators are not Lions or Tigers – they are cheetahs of the safari.

Hey McFly,
Nice idea but there are flaws, the biggest being: You want to make a movie in the same jungle with a story where everyone already knows the ending and you’re going to one up the original by having a four man squad of Green Berets do to many Predators what Arnie’s specially selected six man squad could barely do to one.
In essence you want to make a movie that spits in the eye of every fan of Predator.
You say you have a script and that it’s perfect, well I’d like to read the entire thing before aspiring to your self proclaimed greatness.
As for Predators made by the real movie makers: To have a cast like it does will be a big draw on it’s own. Let’s hope the movie has as much suspense and tension as the original.

hey macfly if jim hoppers men where played by tom cruise,jack black,robert patterson,and kendra.yeah id pay to see those douchbags getting skinned(preferably alive)lol.
in agreement with deadbeatbert why have hoppers guys take out 3 predators???isnt that one of the reasons why AvP sucked?because they killed off the preds too easily?
look on the brightside mcfly at least we will get to see how the other half lives,something im sure many predator fans will be only to happy to see,and also whats wrong with predator style animals its their home planet for crying out loud.and besides i think its safe to say that robert rodriguez knows what hes doing
and the teaser trailer looks sublime(a definite tilt of the hat to the original).cant wait to see it

Well if you remember in avp the predators are fighting the aliens as the right of passage they are young predators gaining there honor within the predator hieariechy so obviusly there going to be pussy’s. Hopefully with this new movie for predator it will show a whole new side to them. i mean normally we only see one predator throught out the whole movie avp 1 there is 3 but 2 of those get owned early on and the other one becomes a host and dies at the end. i think this new movie predators should win. Who decided they were the bad guys?? there only doing what we do wen people go deer hunting lol. any way i hope this new one is good other wise alot of people are gonna be pissed at ruining futher more a good franchise.

ok heres the flaw in script and a reply’s reasoning ok what weve learned from them family based and group oriented predators usually dont go out alone PACK HUNTERS people next part ok predators means more than one ok well lets see there maybe just 2 so you dont INSULT THE GREATEST ACTION STAR IN THE WORLD (arnie kinda earned it you know!) now after youvd saved your ass from making a huge middle finget to what looks like the next republican president remember the ones hunting the aliens in AVP (nice tie in) were TEENAGERS they had to kill the xeno’s to become men in the eyes of there tribe the predators could be an ELDER TEACHER AN APPRENTICE and the apprentice is the one who had to die and the elder HK (terminator props) who was BA got ko’d but the great DUTCH! but also lets not forget the dorky guy who had all the dumb ass jokes in the original is also the GENIOUS that wrote the original PREDATOR shawn black so what iam kinda saying is yeah that would be a bad ass movie but i agree with the reply to it your pretty much saying schwarzenegger is a pussy dude and that i and we in as PROUD AMERICAN CITZENS cant and WONT STAND FOR SIR it be like saying JOHN WAYNE took it up the pooper or RAMBO needs to be held at night to sleep with his teddy see theres things you do and things you dont saying the AUSTRIAN WONDER couldnt do what some fucker that we dont even know is take out arnie and “THE BODY” couldnt take out well sir you have your own self to blame there I too sir am a huge dork even a geek one or all would say but never would i ever say that about CONAN (even after KINDERGARTEN COP, JUNIOR, and TWINS/ I THOUGHT ABOUT IT AFTER END OF DAYS AND THOSE OTHER AUTROCITES HE MADE AFTER COLLATERAL WAS JUST PLAIN NAUSIATING I LITTERALLY HAD TO HEAVE BUT i digress) never ever sir but id like to read this idea i myself enjoy writing screen play ideas i have one for the AVP franchise ive considered sending late

the original predator books talked about rights of passage for new and young predators.
each ship would carry one queen alien and a clan of trainee preds led by master hunters. they would have alien eggs dispatched to worlds where they can learn to hunt them. the ultimate prey were armed humans – or soft meat as they called them.
one female human becomes a predator and joins a clan.
once you have joined you then need to earn the mark of adulthood. this film is just a training exam for the juvinile preds to literally cut their teeth on.
lets admit it…we will watch it wether its good or bad…as we are sci fi nuts.
