‘Rambo V: The Savage Hunt’ Goes Sci-Fi
Earlier this week Nu Image/Millennium Films officially announced that Sylvester Stallone’s next pic (after he completes The Expendables) would be a fifth Rambo movie.
Naturally I didn’t report the news on Sci Fi Scoop because clearly Rambo isn’t a sci-fi franchise. Well, it hasn’t been until now…yes, that’s right, Rambo V: The Savage Hunt is going sci-fi!
AICN are reporting that Sylvester Stallone has confirmed exclusively to them that Rambo V will be set in the Pacific Northwest, roughly the same area where the first Rambo film, the awesome First Blood, took place.
The story follows a U.S. Military installation that is doing experiments on elite soldiers as part of a program to create enhanced savage soldiers that have no hesitation in killing. The experiments succeed but obviously go bad, unleashing a group of these enhanced, remorseless super soldiers. Rambo is then brought in with a Black Ops squad to hunt, capture and kill these “worse than Rambo” savage killers.
I’ve always loved Rambo films and the idea that John Rambo will be hunting super-powerful-elite-remorseless-savage killers, rather than being the one who is hunted, works for me. It’s kind of like Rambo hunting Universal Soldiers. Cool.
To wet our appetites a little, a quick one sheet has been put together – apparently for the Toronto Film Festival. Check it out:
Production on Rambo V: The Savage Hunt will commence in the next few months.

I live in the Pacific Northwest. Is it being filmed in Washington State or in Canada? First Blood took place here but was filmed on the other side of the border. I, for one am looking forward to a Rambo SciFi.
