Rumor: James McTeigue to Direct ‘Conan’

Conan

Yesterday we learned that Brett Ratner’s time schedule had precluded him from sitting in the Conan director’s chair and that the producers were looking for a new director.

CHUD are now reporting that according to an insider a director has been chosen: James McTeigue.

McTiegue was an assistant director on all three Matrix movies and also directed V for Vendetta (four of our favorite movies of all-time).  He’s also the director on the new Ninja Assassin movie (which looks awesome) and is apparently in talks to direct X-Men Origins: Wolverine.  He’s no stranger to directing action, so whilst on one hand losing Brett Ratner is a major blow for the production, gaining McTeigue is a major bonus.

That is, of course, if this isn’t just another rumor.

Conan presently remains on Lionsgates 2010 release list.
