‘S. Darko’ Trailer and Viral Video

Richard Kelly’s 1981 Donnie Darko was a cult hit and even now remains in the top 250 films of all time on the IMDB (it’s actually #127, only 4 films below Die Hard). So it goes without saying that the sequel will fall under fairly intense scrutiny (and already has).
S.Darko picks up seven years after the events of Donnie Darko and tells a new story from the eyes of Donnie Darko’s little sister, Samantha Darko. Samantha and her best friend Corey (Briana Evigan) go on a road trip but find themselves stranded in a small desert town. When a meteorite crashes nearby, Samantha is plagued by visions of the end of the world.
What’s really cool about this is that way back in 2001 Samantha Darko was played by Daveigh Chase, then a cute ten year old. Chase is now 18 years old and has reprised her original Donnie Darko role for the sequel.

Of course all of the above is old news. What’s new is the following viral video that we’ve found via Cinematical that’s part of the marketing push for the new film. It’s a creepy surveillance video that, well, you’ll just have to watch.
S. Darko will be released direct-to-DVD on May 12th.
