Saving ‘Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles’

Fox canceled Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles almost six months ago now, but fans have refused to give up.  If you’re a fan of the show and haven’t added your weight to the various campaigns designed to convince Fox to overturn their decision, then let me suggest now’s the time to join the party.

Whilst some people might tell you fan campaigns don’t help, I’m going to tell you that those people are flat out wrong.  Fan campaigns don’t always help, but then most campaigns aren’t underpinned by the same level of dedication and energy that TSCC fans are proving they have.  And make no mistake, the ‘Save the Sarah Connor Chronicles’ movement is making waves.

Now, don’t get me wrong.  I’m not suggesting that thanks to a group of dedicated fans the show will suddenly find itself green-lit again.  The likelihood of a return season 3 would have to be considered highly improbable at this point. Yet, improbable is not the same thing as impossible.

Only a few months ago I read plenty of comments around the internet suggesting that fans should “let it go” and “give up”.  Plenty of people told me “its over” and “don’t waste your time.”  Fortunately few serious fans listened and now the prospect of TSCC being revived is a very real one.  That’s right, there have been discussions by the powers that be relating to the production of a TSCC direct-to-dvd movie.

Ask yourself, would discussions centered on migrating the series into a direct-to-dvd movie format really be taking place if there had been silence once TSCC was canceled? Not a chance.

Take it from Thomas Dekker (aka John Connor) himself:

After watching the above video if you’re wondering what the ‘Freaking Big Push‘ is, it’s a massive campaign directed at Warner Bros. to convince them to bring back the show and, if you’d like to see it return, you too can play a part in it.

Don’t underestimate the power of your involvement – you’re not one fan, you’re one extra voice to help make the crowd louder.  It’s really quite impressive what joining together can accomplish.

Check out one such fan accomplishment:

But enough of me talking it up.  The real place to be isn’t reading an article on a news site, it’s participating in the movement itself.  Here’s where you need to be:

and you can follow them on Twitter:

But before you go, know that one of the best ways you can support the return of TSCC is to throw some money at the issue.  The second season has just been released on DVD and Blu-ray.  Help bring the story back to our screens by talking the producers language.  Throw some money at it:

Great work TSCC fans!

It was amazing how fast we reached the target for the billboard campaign, hopefully all future campaigns will be as successful and the end result will be positive.

The Firefly browncoats did it with Serenity, the resistance can do it to!

Whilst you’re at it, bring back:

    - Firefly
    - Dark Angel
    - Enterprise (the last 2 seasons were really underrated)
    - Journeyman
    - Dead Like Me
    - Drive
    - Pushing Daisies
    - Reaper

Also if you could arrange for Ghost Whisperer to be cancelled and it’s budget channelled into something decent then I’d be grateful

I love this article, it means so much to me that sites and the people running those sites are actually giving credit to the fans for trying to save The Sarah Connor Chronicles. We, the Sarah Connor fans have been working online and off to try and save the show since we heard of the cancellation. Also, the Freaking Big Push has brought new fans to the show and new fighters. I’m so excited that there is a direct-to-dvd Sarah Connor movie rumor floating out there. Yes, I’m excited about a rumor. Any hope helps. No fate but what we make. Save Sarah Connor! :)

Agreed TSCC must continue on with season 3, or, a direct to dvd movie to tie up that cliffhanger from season 2 that, made me die a little inside knowing it was the last episode to be done.

Just finished watching w/ my 2 sons – Please bring it back or at least do a movie like Serenity – If FOX is going to cancel series, they should give the writers some head’s up so they can at least wrap up the story however truncated… Hope they’ll do SOMETHING – This is soooooooo lame a way for this great series to end. Boo FOX!

I have all of the 3 terminator movies on DVD. I also have Salvation and the Sarah Connor Chronicles season 1 & 2 on blu-ray. That my friends for any average person is certain amount of money spent. The show itself needs to be worked on. I have to say that the tscc had it’s faults, but FOX instead cancels this once in a lifetime show.

Everyone is right! Show your support for this show if not for the franchise itself is being butchered by this huge mistake. I support the Big Push having signed petitions, viewing the season episodes via website(YouTube,Tcronicles, wat have u).
I don’t want my time and money wasted.
Here is a blu-ray/DVD product that has a beginning(s1), rising action(s2), and well that’s about it and we are missing everything else including the middle and end of a timeless storyline.
I wanna see is the look on one the FOX executives buying this or a many of the unfinished products and coming to realize that this is the label “YOUR SCREWED” if you wanna know what happens later in the series because it no longer exists.
TERMINATORS THEY DONT FEEL PAIN REMORSE THEY WONT EVER GIVE UP OR STOP AT NOTHING UNTIL …their mission is complete.

    Marketing/Promotions in regards to T:SCC

The thing that I don’t think that FOX or other Networks understand is how to market a show like Sarah Connors Chronicles. And it is this fact, that should have/could have/may still save SCC.

Fox cancelled SCC for one reason: Numbers. They weren’t there compared to the cost. Now, you and I can complain that they (producers and writers) ditched the show by convoluting the plot and bringing on highly disliked characters (psychotic girlfriends) and making John a brooding teen without any ability to lead… and I agree. But for Fox, this was a business decision.

So, how do we save shows like Terminator? Do more than number counts. Show the demographics of a show like Terminator. I am one of those HARD to reach demographics. I don’t watch TV and I don’t see many ads. I am a professional with not much time and little desire to be “entertained” by some show on TV. And I never watch serial television. Ever. Until SCC. The last episode of episodic TV, that I watched, was probably 10-12 years earlier. I hear similiar things from my other friends… they just don’t watch much TV, until Terminator hit the airwaves. For two years, we never missed an episode.

Now, how much is that worth? A demographic who had no interest in watching something else (we didn’t move on to Doll House or any other zany Sci-fi or drama). How much is it worth to your advertisers to get 40-60 year olds who are flush with money, and never in front of the tube, to be sitting in front of that tube watching. What is that worth?

That is what Fox had with Terminator. Nope, I bet it didn’t do well in the mainstream… but it did well with a very loyal bunch (and you only have yourself to blame for the second season… and the mis-step with Riley and fawning John. But there were still some great episodes in the second season. And you would have had even higher ratings eash year and more and more of the hard to reach group tuned in each weak.

Market shows like T:SCC for the demographic you get, the loyalty of that demographic, and the marketability of that audience.

I’m just saying, Fox has already canceled two shows with Summer Glau in them. WTF? Who ever made these decisions should be hunted by a terminator that looks like Summer Glau — just to show ‘em!!

But in all seriousness the show is awesome and there is story left to be told and plenty of human resistance that needs to hear it! BRING IT BACK!
