Thanks to the guys over at Story Forge I’ve discovered the sci-fi web series After Judgment.

After Judgment is a post-Rapture drama that takes place after judgment day.  The sinless have ascended in a mass exodus whilst those left on Earth live agelessly in a world where no more humans are born.   In other words, it takes place after judgment in a kind of hellish, post-apocalyptic setting.

What is interesting about this series is that it is not your stock-standard post-apocalyptic drama.  Neither is it readily obvious what is going on from the beginning, and yet it remains strangely addictive from the moment you start watching.

The episodes aren’t linear – they jump back and forth but, although it may appear disjointed at first, there is a clever design to it all.  Each episode acts like a piece of a larger puzzle, something that becomes more obvious episode by episode.

There is also a spinoff series that takes place before judgment titled, as you would expect, Before Judgment. I get the feeling Before Judgment is not just a spinoff for spinoff sakes, but rather another clever piece of the overall puzzle.

After Judgment was nominated for five Streamys, including Best Dramatic Web Series.  Right from the opening seconds of the first episode it’s easy to see why.  The series is clearly made with some pretty high production values, evident almost immediately thanks to music composer Bryan Lyster’s notable score.
