I was looking forward to a new Stargate show. I mean the first to where great! After seeing the first few episodes of universe I was very disapointed. Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis where good clean shows, I was able to watch them without worrying about what I was watching. This cannot be said of Universe. Sadly it is full of sex scenes, and same sex relationships. This ruined Universe for me. The concept was cool, but the sex scenes and same sex relationships ruined it. I quit watching the show.
Thankfully I found Sanctuary! It has been a very pleasent show to watch. The storyline is great. This show even has morals. In one episode, one of the characters has the chance to live with the woman he loves (she is already merried) but he tells her no and that she made her choice and needs to live with it. Another instance is when one of the characters is looking back at her messed up past. Instead of blaming someone for her problems (like so many shows do today) she says that she was the reason she turned out that way. That it was her choices and that she could have changed them but did not. A character actually takes responsibility! I hope that Aanctuary will continue to do well. It has definately taken the place of Stargate.
Thanks Amanda (and crew and everyone involved) for putting out a great show for us to watch. We can’t wait for season 3.

I Agree. I was a hardcore SG fan. I’m afraid that’s over now.
Can’t wait for Sanctuary season 3.

Sanctary is a great show can’t wait for the 3rd season. As for Stargate Universe it’s very bad show, can’t even compare to the first two which I watch over and over. Need to take Stargate Universe off the air and find something better.

I am sorry to say your logic is as faulty as your spelling. All things mature, SG is now a grown up show. “Moral”? As in it agrees with yours? Petty….
April 26th, 2010 at 3:15 pm
I admit that I am keeping up with SGU. Though as far as morals go, it really doesn’t have any. SGU is nothing more than a attempt to mix Stargate and Battlestar Galactica together. Like I said I do keep up with it. The characters are interesting but other than that its nothing that fascinating. Sanctuary on the other hand is new and original and loads of fun. (aside from the occasional XMEN simalarities that occur occasionally) I love it. It’s a great show. I think since they have introduced several SG actors into the series, it is about time the Richard Dean Anderson makes an appearance.

WOW – if SG is now a grown up show, you can keep it. I much preferred it when it was adolescent…
I have persevered through all of the episodes so far (holding out for some old spark) and up until ‘Faith’ each week has been rather depressing.
I suppose there are people who like to watch TV to be depressed but I on the other hand enjoy it as an escape – hence I like shows like Sanctuary, SG1, Atlantis, Enterprise, Voyager etc etc. Shows that take you on a journey and usually leave a smile on your face. SGU may be taking us on a journey but ‘I don’t see no smiles’. I hold out hope, as an eternal optimist…

sgu is kinda gay, if they would have the old cast return it would be better, but im still keeping up to dat on it.
May 12th, 2010 at 9:55 am
and there isnt any action to seak of, thats wat the other stargate series was so great at and they are humorus. sgu is to serious and not enough action, if they dont have action it shouldnt be on scifi.
June 6th, 2010 at 4:29 pm
why does SGU suck?.. i havnt seen SG-1 or Atlantis.. but after watching some episodes of atlantis it sucked ass. bad effects, the acting SUCKS!. SGU is realistic better effects better acting.

which episode is the one with the guy who could live with the married woman but he chooses not to?
June 10th, 2010 at 1:45 am
I dont get Stargate atlantas, SG1 was awsome, but why would u put as one of the main characters a character who was meant to be irritating in sg1 and still is. The characters dont like him, hes not likable, i dont want to watch someone irritating. Its stupid. I dont enjoy being annoyed
June 13th, 2010 at 4:07 pm
SGU is gritty and deffinatly grown up in comparison to previous SG shows, thats what makes it a great show. the most exciting i ever found SG before now was when they left it on a cliffhanger and took dr frasier out of the show. SGA was the biggest load of rubbish ever it was full of the same story lines and friends and foes as SG1 just different people and a different galaxy, at least SGU brings something new to the table. u enjoy the rubbish happy go lucky shows such as enterprise, but in a real situation this it what it would be like not some make believe rubbish that ends every episode on a high note.
June 16th, 2010 at 5:38 pm
SGU is new its only just unfolding & as for yous that are quick off the mark to criticise it even before the end of the first season, give it time most people didn’t like sg1 and Atlantes the first season but buy the end you didn’t want it to end!
people just don’t like change at the end of the day maybe???
June 17th, 2010 at 2:38 pm
SG1 was a great show, But SGA was total and utter rubbish. I tried to watch and like it, i really did, but it just sucked so i gave up. I was really hesitant about Universe because Atlantis had been so bad, but i decided not tar it with the same brush. I’m so glad i did because it’s a brilliant show. Very cleverly written. The acting is extremely well done. So what it has sex in it? it’s not like it’s full on hardcore, It’s just trying to show you what’s going on and because it’s an ADULT show it can and doesn’t have to “hint” about it. And your disgusted by the same sex relationship?(note: just the one) It just show’s what a bigot you are really. At the end of the day you love, who you love, if they are the same sex or not it makes no matter, as long as nobody else is getting hurt. I think the show raises some clever questions about life and morality and gives us a nice “what would you do” conversation after every episode. If you can’t appreciate that maybe you should stick to Oprah and carrying on being told what you think?

When is Sanctuary season 3 going to be start being broadcast on SYFI (Directv 244)
June 18th, 2010 at 4:08 pm
I watched the whole first season before I decided to spout off my opinion, this show is really really good. Peoples attitudes and interactions are realistic, each episode has something new and with the odd appearances of the SG1 team, this makes for a show that’ll keep me coming back for more. Bring on Season 2!. Atlantis was utter crap! SG1 was more tongue in cheek with the references to ‘The Wizard of Oz’ etc which I enjoyed a lot, but very few episodes like the end of SGU Season 1 kept me wanting more.
SGU: ok to start with, Outstanding season finale!!!!

I’ve been watching SG since I was nine and it was my favorite show!!!! I loved SG1 and Atlantis but I can’t stand to watch SGU. SGU is too cheesy for me it isn’t captivating or interesting and it’s kind of embarrassing to watch. Why couldn’t you they just stick with Atlantis because it was doing fine? Now I watch Sanctuary which I love!!! I’ve given up on Stargate its just stupid now and very unoriginal.
June 23rd, 2010 at 3:32 pm
SGU is pretty Awesome. I love SG1 and SGU, but if they had created a third series for Stargate with the same format I’m not sure if it would of been able to pickup new viewers. Now seems maybe SGU has lost a few but for the long term Survival of the show it had to change with the times. I also still hope they make a SGA movie.
also love Sanctuary as well and waiting for info on when season 3 starts

We have just started the first seasion of what could very easily be considered SGUn-original. It appears that in order to afford the very cool special effects they saved money by employing very unimaginative story writers. I mean its just a cross between battlestar, SGAtlantas(the beginning) lost, very good programmes in their own right but its been done. And just jumping from extreem EARTH like environments – booring and very disappointing.
June 25th, 2010 at 9:11 pm
whoever said theirs “same sex relationships” in SGU please tell me about that i dont remember that i think your retarded as for the normal sex scenes..LIFE IS ALL ABOUT SEX people like u slow down the progression of all man kind…SGU is a GREAT show very suspenseful love every bit of it!
June 26th, 2010 at 7:30 am
Put in the most simple terms, this show sucks the big donkey dick.
It is neither realistic, grown up, mature or intelligent entertainment as I know of no group of people from varying demographics who whine, bitch, backstab & scream at each other in the way these people do in the situation they have found themselves in. & quite frankly in regards to the sex, there isn’t enough in my opinion – I want to see more tits & the thing that bugs me is they never did it with SG1 or Atlantis; I’d have love to have seen Amanda Tapping or Claudia black in the nude, you just can’t buy that sort of quality.
June 27th, 2010 at 8:54 pm
I like SGU, however, there is FAR too much drama… I don’t mind the sex scenes or same sex relationships. I don’t like how they have full episodes dedicated to someones screwed up issues…
But, I love Amanda Tapping more. She is a great actress, and she fits into this role with ease.
Go Samantha!!!

SGU is a vastly more mature and complex show than it’s predecessors. It focuses on the characters and their relationships. I think it is awesome to have a grown up version of Stargate to watch. And like someone else said “Get with the times!”. The shows producers have an obligation to develop the brand in a way that it can grow. I love SG-1 and SGA as much as any other fan but continuing down the path they have been on for years with the same formula will get them nothing. Recycling the same episode structure of Problem-conflict-resolution with the occasional 2 part episode of a cliff hanger is why there is no longer a Star Trek series on television. It’s too predictable and the viewer doesn’t care if the miss an episode because nothing of any consequence had happened. It’s why Lost was so good and why Heros went from awesome to garbage. Bottom line: things can’t stay the same forever. I am happy the show deals with real life situations – sex and same sex relationships – if you are not then you can live in your bubble of happy endings and recycled plot lines.

SGU ROCKs. . every one here who just wants to whinge because this show is about more than costumes and space fights go tell someone who cares
July 3rd, 2010 at 9:42 pm
I actually find myself in the middle I agree with both sides I think i’m still a bit to hardcore of a SG fan, so as has been said i’m just just trying to look to the future hoping the story unfolds and allows for a little bit of a balance between some action and drama, yet maintain the realism of it all that the show seems to be trying to cling too.
July 4th, 2010 at 8:33 pm
I like both but really want to know when Sanctuary season 3 starts. If anybody finds out please tell me.

Stargate universe is probably the best stargate to date. They changed up from everyone makes it home safe and sound every episode, to a more realistic tone where people live and some may die, and at the end of the day they dont all get together and eat lunch and laugh.
Watch the last few seasons of stargate sg1 and stargate atlantis and tell me that after every episode they dont all get together to stuff their faces in the cafeteria, and laugh and cut up, like their lives werent just in danger and it was a breeze.
Two thumbs up for stargate universe, its time it got more dramatic, more dangerous and more fun as well as a littel more grown up. Im sorry but if youre not mature enough to enjoy it, then the show is better off without you as a fan.

i like sgu. it has a little suspense to it. but more importantly leave the lesbians alone. there is absolutely nothing wrong with two women being in love. it is a beautiful thing (and should be documented) and then re-enacted by cheerleaders)(and sent to me via email)(or i could just work the camera)(??? do you need both hand to work a professional video camera???)
July 21st, 2010 at 3:29 pm
SGU is enjoyable and people are right about the fact that the same problem->resolution episodes would not work anymore. The story is developing quite well too albeit a bit toooo slow at times.
About the sex stuff, doesnt bother me, but do we really need it to feel the show is realistic? Odd.. People pee and poo too, you want to see that too?
The style is obviously copied from BSG and Lost (a lot!!!) but it works so why not use it. Its overall enjoyable. Its not a ‘mature’ show just because it has sex in it, but yea its much more serious. But I loved the funnies of Jack o neill. Somehow the writers sense of humour and funny lines have all dried up.
