I was looking forward to a new Stargate show. I mean the first to where great! After seeing the first few episodes of universe I was very disapointed. Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis where good clean shows, I was able to watch them without worrying about what I was watching. This cannot be said of Universe. Sadly it is full of sex scenes, and same sex relationships. This ruined Universe for me. The concept was cool, but the sex scenes and same sex relationships ruined it. I quit watching the show.

Thankfully I found Sanctuary! It has been a very pleasent show to watch. The storyline is great. This show even has morals. In one episode, one of the characters has the chance to live with the woman he loves (she is already merried) but he tells her no and that she made her choice and needs to live with it. Another instance is when one of the characters is looking back at her messed up past. Instead of blaming someone for her problems (like so many shows do today) she says that she was the reason she turned out that way. That it was her choices and that she could have changed them but did not. A character actually takes responsibility! I hope that Aanctuary will continue to do well. It has definately taken the place of Stargate.

Thanks Amanda (and crew and everyone involved) for putting out a great show for us to watch. We can’t wait for season 3.

I Agree. I was a hardcore SG fan. I’m afraid that’s over now.

    Can’t wait for Sanctuary season 3. :)

I Love SGU get with the tmes, this is better than any previous SG and I can’t wait for the new season!

Sanctary is a great show can’t wait for the 3rd season. As for Stargate Universe it’s very bad show, can’t even compare to the first two which I watch over and over. Need to take Stargate Universe off the air and find something better.

  5. Robert said:

I am sorry to say your logic is as faulty as your spelling. All things mature, SG is now a grown up show. “Moral”? As in it agrees with yours? Petty….

  6. KydusBlack said:

I admit that I am keeping up with SGU. Though as far as morals go, it really doesn’t have any. SGU is nothing more than a attempt to mix Stargate and Battlestar Galactica together. Like I said I do keep up with it. The characters are interesting but other than that its nothing that fascinating. Sanctuary on the other hand is new and original and loads of fun. (aside from the occasional XMEN simalarities that occur occasionally) I love it. It’s a great show. I think since they have introduced several SG actors into the series, it is about time the Richard Dean Anderson makes an appearance.

  7. Paul said:

WOW – if SG is now a grown up show, you can keep it. I much preferred it when it was adolescent…

I have persevered through all of the episodes so far (holding out for some old spark) and up until ‘Faith’ each week has been rather depressing.
I suppose there are people who like to watch TV to be depressed but I on the other hand enjoy it as an escape – hence I like shows like Sanctuary, SG1, Atlantis, Enterprise, Voyager etc etc. Shows that take you on a journey and usually leave a smile on your face. SGU may be taking us on a journey but ‘I don’t see no smiles’. I hold out hope, as an eternal optimist…

  8. SGU SUCKS, THE OTHER SG IS AWSOME said:

sgu is kinda gay, if they would have the old cast return it would be better, but im still keeping up to dat on it.

  9. SGU SUCKS, THE OTHER SG IS AWSOME said:

and there isnt any action to seak of, thats wat the other stargate series was so great at and they are humorus. sgu is to serious and not enough action, if they dont have action it shouldnt be on scifi.

  10. carl said:

why does SGU suck?.. i havnt seen SG-1 or Atlantis.. but after watching some episodes of atlantis it sucked ass. bad effects, the acting SUCKS!. SGU is realistic better effects better acting.

  11. Emmy said:

which episode is the one with the guy who could live with the married woman but he chooses not to?

  12. Emmy said:

I dont get Stargate atlantas, SG1 was awsome, but why would u put as one of the main characters a character who was meant to be irritating in sg1 and still is. The characters dont like him, hes not likable, i dont want to watch someone irritating. Its stupid. I dont enjoy being annoyed

  13. Dan said:

SGU is gritty and deffinatly grown up in comparison to previous SG shows, thats what makes it a great show. the most exciting i ever found SG before now was when they left it on a cliffhanger and took dr frasier out of the show. SGA was the biggest load of rubbish ever it was full of the same story lines and friends and foes as SG1 just different people and a different galaxy, at least SGU brings something new to the table. u enjoy the rubbish happy go lucky shows such as enterprise, but in a real situation this it what it would be like not some make believe rubbish that ends every episode on a high note.

  14. prophets said:

SGU is new its only just unfolding & as for yous that are quick off the mark to criticise it even before the end of the first season, give it time most people didn’t like sg1 and Atlantes the first season but buy the end you didn’t want it to end!

people just don’t like change at the end of the day maybe???

  15. Louise said:

SG1 was a great show, But SGA was total and utter rubbish. I tried to watch and like it, i really did, but it just sucked so i gave up. I was really hesitant about Universe because Atlantis had been so bad, but i decided not tar it with the same brush. I’m so glad i did because it’s a brilliant show. Very cleverly written. The acting is extremely well done. So what it has sex in it? it’s not like it’s full on hardcore, It’s just trying to show you what’s going on and because it’s an ADULT show it can and doesn’t have to “hint” about it. And your disgusted by the same sex relationship?(note: just the one) It just show’s what a bigot you are really. At the end of the day you love, who you love, if they are the same sex or not it makes no matter, as long as nobody else is getting hurt. I think the show raises some clever questions about life and morality and gives us a nice “what would you do” conversation after every episode. If you can’t appreciate that maybe you should stick to Oprah and carrying on being told what you think?

When is Sanctuary season 3 going to be start being broadcast on SYFI (Directv 244)

  18. Dan R said:

I watched the whole first season before I decided to spout off my opinion, this show is really really good. Peoples attitudes and interactions are realistic, each episode has something new and with the odd appearances of the SG1 team, this makes for a show that’ll keep me coming back for more. Bring on Season 2!. Atlantis was utter crap! SG1 was more tongue in cheek with the references to ‘The Wizard of Oz’ etc which I enjoyed a lot, but very few episodes like the end of SGU Season 1 kept me wanting more.

SGU: ok to start with, Outstanding season finale!!!!

  19. SG Girl said:

I’ve been watching SG since I was nine and it was my favorite show!!!! I loved SG1 and Atlantis but I can’t stand to watch SGU. SGU is too cheesy for me it isn’t captivating or interesting and it’s kind of embarrassing to watch. Why couldn’t you they just stick with Atlantis because it was doing fine? Now I watch Sanctuary which I love!!! I’ve given up on Stargate its just stupid now and very unoriginal.

  20. Trevs said:

SGU is pretty Awesome. I love SG1 and SGU, but if they had created a third series for Stargate with the same format I’m not sure if it would of been able to pickup new viewers. Now seems maybe SGU has lost a few but for the long term Survival of the show it had to change with the times. I also still hope they make a SGA movie.

also love Sanctuary as well and waiting for info on when season 3 starts

  21. Blue Hand said:

We have just started the first seasion of what could very easily be considered SGUn-original. It appears that in order to afford the very cool special effects they saved money by employing very unimaginative story writers. I mean its just a cross between battlestar, SGAtlantas(the beginning) lost, very good programmes in their own right but its been done. And just jumping from extreem EARTH like environments – booring and very disappointing.

  22. Frank said:

whoever said theirs “same sex relationships” in SGU please tell me about that i dont remember that i think your retarded as for the normal sex scenes..LIFE IS ALL ABOUT SEX people like u slow down the progression of all man kind…SGU is a GREAT show very suspenseful love every bit of it!

  23. Wesley said:

Put in the most simple terms, this show sucks the big donkey dick.

It is neither realistic, grown up, mature or intelligent entertainment as I know of no group of people from varying demographics who whine, bitch, backstab & scream at each other in the way these people do in the situation they have found themselves in. & quite frankly in regards to the sex, there isn’t enough in my opinion – I want to see more tits & the thing that bugs me is they never did it with SG1 or Atlantis; I’d have love to have seen Amanda Tapping or Claudia black in the nude, you just can’t buy that sort of quality.

  24. steve said:

I like SGU, however, there is FAR too much drama… I don’t mind the sex scenes or same sex relationships. I don’t like how they have full episodes dedicated to someones screwed up issues…
But, I love Amanda Tapping more. She is a great actress, and she fits into this role with ease.
    Go Samantha!!!

  25. Probatus said:

SGU is a vastly more mature and complex show than it’s predecessors. It focuses on the characters and their relationships. I think it is awesome to have a grown up version of Stargate to watch. And like someone else said “Get with the times!”. The shows producers have an obligation to develop the brand in a way that it can grow. I love SG-1 and SGA as much as any other fan but continuing down the path they have been on for years with the same formula will get them nothing. Recycling the same episode structure of Problem-conflict-resolution with the occasional 2 part episode of a cliff hanger is why there is no longer a Star Trek series on television. It’s too predictable and the viewer doesn’t care if the miss an episode because nothing of any consequence had happened. It’s why Lost was so good and why Heros went from awesome to garbage. Bottom line: things can’t stay the same forever. I am happy the show deals with real life situations – sex and same sex relationships – if you are not then you can live in your bubble of happy endings and recycled plot lines.

SGU ROCKs. . every one here who just wants to whinge because this show is about more than costumes and space fights go tell someone who cares

  27. Nathen said:

I actually find myself in the middle I agree with both sides I think i’m still a bit to hardcore of a SG fan, so as has been said i’m just just trying to look to the future hoping the story unfolds and allows for a little bit of a balance between some action and drama, yet maintain the realism of it all that the show seems to be trying to cling too.

  28. Whiskey123 said:

I like both but really want to know when Sanctuary season 3 starts. If anybody finds out please tell me.

  29. dragonbaybe said:

Stargate universe is probably the best stargate to date. They changed up from everyone makes it home safe and sound every episode, to a more realistic tone where people live and some may die, and at the end of the day they dont all get together and eat lunch and laugh.

Watch the last few seasons of stargate sg1 and stargate atlantis and tell me that after every episode they dont all get together to stuff their faces in the cafeteria, and laugh and cut up, like their lives werent just in danger and it was a breeze.

Two thumbs up for stargate universe, its time it got more dramatic, more dangerous and more fun as well as a littel more grown up. Im sorry but if youre not mature enough to enjoy it, then the show is better off without you as a fan.

i like sgu. it has a little suspense to it. but more importantly leave the lesbians alone. there is absolutely nothing wrong with two women being in love. it is a beautiful thing (and should be documented) and then re-enacted by cheerleaders)(and sent to me via email)(or i could just work the camera)(??? do you need both hand to work a professional video camera???)

  31. moe said:

SGU is enjoyable and people are right about the fact that the same problem->resolution episodes would not work anymore. The story is developing quite well too albeit a bit toooo slow at times.

About the sex stuff, doesnt bother me, but do we really need it to feel the show is realistic? Odd.. People pee and poo too, you want to see that too?

The style is obviously copied from BSG and Lost (a lot!!!) but it works so why not use it. Its overall enjoyable. Its not a ‘mature’ show just because it has sex in it, but yea its much more serious. But I loved the funnies of Jack o neill. Somehow the writers sense of humour and funny lines have all dried up.

  32. Alex said:

Being an avid SG fan, and owning everything (SG + Atlantis) as box sets, I was apprehensive watching the SGU pilot.

However now having seen the whole series, I must say it blows both of the old shows out of the water.
Not only does SGU have real characters, who behave like humans do with all their flaws and shortcomings, it also had a very fresh story line and amazing sets.

I’m absolutely loving some of the plot twists and power battles that ensue.

    Cant wait for season 2!!

  33. tim said:

yes it may have lost some of the viewers for beiong a bit more realistic but its picked some up too, my g/f never really liked stargate until she watched universe and it was because she said it was different (a good different) if it was up to some of u we would still be in the stone age!!! shows evolve !!!!

My Stargate love started with the movie and SG1 was a campy runoff. A good one, I love it but still a runoff. Atlantis was carbon copy. Still I loved it. SGU, I’m not sure about. I agree with one of the former posts that SGU is just SG1 and Battlestar Galactica. The politics are a bit too much and they’ve been doing it since the beginning so it’s a little rote by now. There needs to be more aliens. I won’t even complain about everyone understanding eachother like they did in SG1 and Atlantis. And as far as the same sex relationship that a couple posters seemed to have; come on. It’s just a little lesbianism, who cares? Straight guys are all excited, gay guys tune out, straight girls remember “that one time in college”. The only one’s who really don’t like it are rightist christians and they don’t believe in things like science and math anyway. So who cares?

  36. Some Random Dude said:

SGU is a great show because its in a very unique position as a show. The previous SG’s were all about building up the SG universe which made for a fun show as the characters were cookie-cutter in nature but the story brought you to fantastic places. Now with SGU they have a very solid universe(15 YEARS in the making) so now we can see what the writers can do with a character centric show. Yes I understand about the constant politicing, sexuality and documentary style of filmography but they make the show, as more than one poster put it, “grittier”. I for one appreciate a character driven show vs just new worlds, that is not to say I think it is better then SG1. SG1 like original Star Trek made the universe(I am aware that SG was first a movie) and the characters didn’t seem cookie-cutter initial, the writers even had fun with this a few times. But now everything after SG1(tenth season) was just garbage. So yes it may seem like SG and BSG had a retarded babe but this is the only possible avenue of evolution for this franchise, I don’t want to see it die because some people are stuck in the 90’s. If you don’t like it its your choice but dont whine about it, since you definitely cant come up with anything better then Stargate SG-1. As for Sanctuary i have only one thing to say: Go Amanda Tapping!!!(the only reason i even bother to catch an episode)

  37. Tokrah said:

Well you’r logic about Star gate SG1 being good clean fun is wrong, Obviously you have only been watching the TV episodes of stargate sg1 when it orignaly came from showtime, I remember the first episode os SG1 Full frontal Nudity tit’s and all as appophis examined each woman for his bride.. Needless to say Daniel jackson’s wife is hooottty

  38. Danny said:

Im glad stargate finally has some realism in it, yeh they have shown relationships before but never same sex relationships

well done stargate universe for being more equal than most shows

What has happened to SGU? It gas gone off the air. Is there a season 3? When is it to start? I’m all confused with it – I thought a new season started in Sept and I’ve recorded it every week on Space but suddenly Dec 10th it is gone without a trace . What’s up?

  40. DJ said:

Stargate universe was a definite change from sg1 and anlantis.
Too much drama. What happened to all of the action??
Suppose one could get used to it after a while.
After all there is no better outer space series than stargate.

SGU?….well I will admit it has been boring most of the times and what is to blame the most is the writers who write the shows. They get the “Stupidity Factor” and then were left wondering what happened to the action and why’s it starting to sound like the “Young and the Restless”, or All My Children”. Writers fail to look at the shows that failed because of what they wrote, the stars themselves get bored and wonder why too and then we the FAns are left in the Dark and what Happened?

Namely: V the original series last episode was Kyle heading off to The Home WORLD OF THE Lizards to Rescue Samantha(I think her name was That) to save her….blam show ends off the air it goes, leaves you in speculation.

The Babylon 5 series spin-off Crusade…a few episodes were awesome then ker-pow…that went quick too….

That’s just to name a few if i was to continue then most of you would be saying yep remember that….but hey…writers and producers don’t listen to the fans, they just go by the rating of a show…come on guys write it with an ending so we are not left confused, or damn that sucks now what do we do?.

  45. Probes said:

    Jamie, you’re an idiot.

  46. nikki said:

what are you mormon sgu is is the best tv show for all its aspects and sex is in every tv show you need to grow up

  47. Jamie said:

SGU is not the best show out there Nikki & Probes, no I’m not a Mormon but some how I think you both are morons…SGU has been losing favour among the ratings because some episodes seem to go no where and as I know more about the TV shows out there then I guess you are both too young to understand. If the show survives then perhaps the writers will smarten up and make the show more enjoyable to the intelligent and the stupid like you 2.

  48. peter said:

I grew up on Stargate Series. I am Scifi a fan, that things is its called Stargate Universe. A opportunity to discover new lifeforms and science. Both lacking the show, plus its based on SPACE, adventure and action surely comes with the package. Instead we get stuck with a soap drama in a spaceship. Yes it may portray real human drama, but most scifi fans are not in it for the drama but for the adventure and action. You don’t go on a exotic holiday, and stay in your hotel having a drama fest all through your vacation. No you go out and explore and enjoy. I swear if you really want human drama and realism they are many shows out there that can offer it in earth. why ruin a adventure scifi show, with whining characters that constantly say “are we there yet” Some superior alien specie should have blown those morons in space long time ago. Freakin 90210 in space crap.

  49. Jamie said:

Now if everybody listened to Peter, then we’d all be happy…action, adventure, some horror would make the show better…

  50. Probes said:

Sounds good Jaime. Just think of all the predictable plot lines you can recycle.

  51. Amber said:

I fell in love with SG when the movie came out in ‘94. I love both SG1 & SGA. Don’t like SGU very much. I agree with what Peter said. They tried to make SGU a BSG meets SG but failed & instead made a soap opera in space. They went way to slow with the plot & stories. It only got good after the mid season 1 hiatus & the finale. Had hopes for season 2 & have been disappointed. I found it very hard to believe there would be no other life out there but the 1 type of alien. There were so many opportunities for the show to become good but the writers didn’t take them. Also they took to much away from what everyone loved about SG. The comedy, the action, the fun, & the fact the whole family can watch it. If I want serious, dark, & real life there’s tons of other NON sci-fi shows to watch.

  52. Jamie said:

Amber….YOU ARE RIGHT…….SG the movie was awesome…I still watch it when ever I can…SG1 & SGA…also great shows…SGU……I’m still scratching my head on……maybe we should put the actors from 90210 “the original ones” and see what happens…….and those out there who love there Soaps will like this even more.

  53. Amber said:

Jamie I got friends that are sci-fi fans and SG fans and they love SGU!! I don’t understand it! It really wasn’t a shock when SGU got cnacelled. I just want a movie to wrap up the show. I hope the SGA movie is still going to be released!

  54. Jamie said:

Hey Amber: WE ARE ALL FANS OF SG SERIES, but were all disappointed in some way about the show and why it was cancelled. We all hope that a series will come along and knock our socks, minds and clothes off..but we have yet to see the Writers take responsibility for there actions when they write a Series that was supposed to be good end up being a little Soap Opera-ish. SGA Movie..I guess we’ll see…..leaving us hanging at the end when there back home on Planet Earth kind a begs for what’s next? Will they leave off from there?, finally get rid of the Wraith?, find more ZPM”S and how to make them?, Encounter a more deadlier foe or find a way to wrap everything up the way “Serenity” did…….

  55. Nya said:

SG1 and SGA were really good. The story line was nice and everything was explained. I was pretty psyched when SGU came out because i thought it would be of the same ilk. Sadly, SGU need better acting and a slightly more explained story line. For some of the idiots up there on the board, sex and same sex relationships and all that rubbish is not a reason to dislike something. God knows what you lot will do when its time for you to get married. Become priests? nuns? Own 30 cats at the age of 30? also it makes you a bigot. and to think we just got rid of racism. i guess there will always be fascist bigoted people in this world. can’t get rid of them apparently. The only reason I did not like SGU was because the plot line stopped making sense. SG1 and SGA explained some of the technical aspects, SGU does no such thing. Sanctuary is an amazing show and very interesting. SGA is planning a sequel movie for those who thought the show ended with a cliffhanger. Sadly, the latest episode of sanctuary did the same. Does anybody have any idea of when the eleventh episode of season 3 is due? its a cliffhanger and i am absolutely dying to know what’s going to happen. IF anyone knows when the episode airs please post it here. thank you, good day to you all.
