Summer Glau Cast in 'Dollhouse'

It’s been rumored for some time but now it’s official.

Summer Glau (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles / Firefly) is on her way to join the cast of Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse.

Glau will appear in a multi-episode story arc set to unfold later in the upcoming second season.

She will play a character named Bennett who has a history with Eliza Dushku’s Echo and who has an apparent connection to another, as yet unknown Dollhouse character.

Rumor is her character will be from another Dollhouse and will appear in at least two episodes from episode 5, airing in October.

The news will no doubt touch a few nerves with fans of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles in which Glau starred as the popular Terminator named Cameron.  It is only little more than three months since Fox announced that their decision to renew Dollhouse was at the expense of Terminator. Fox entertainment president Kevin Reilly said at the time, “…ultimately we made the bet on Dollhouse for the nightso that’s it for Terminator.”

Well, at the very least, that wasn’t it for Summer Glau fans.

Dollhouse season 2 kicks off on Fox Friday September 25.

Actually I would have prefered a 3rd season of Terminator … I still can’t believe they cancelled the show even if a such amazing potential …

I like Eliza Dushku in both Buffy and Tru Calling.I don’t like the dollhouse though.I think it started out “ok” and then just got worse.Dushku cant save the dollhouse and I think this will be the last season. The dollhouse jut features a ditsy character that Dushku should be ashamed to portray. To be honest they should have canceled Dollhouse and moved Dushku to TSCC now that would have been fab.

I read some review that hyped Dollhouse so I went out and rented the first season thinking I would catch up so I could watch it this year.

What a waste of time and money. It is completely vapid and uninteresting. I just found this site today while looking for the date for TSCC season three premier :/

That they would pick Dollhouse instead of Terminator is dumbfounding but not surprising. I suspect Dollhouse may be cheaper to produce than Terminator but even if they added more eye candy to Dollhouse other than a bunch of, as they say in the series itself, “stone cold foxes”, the series still lacks on so many levels. Could it be more neanderthal? Terminator never had to relied on selling sex for rating but instead gave us good story lines & character development. Dollhouse gives us a bunch of blow-up dolls who have no character to develop because they don’t really have a character from one episode to the next.

Having Dollhouse remain on air and axing TSCC is a sad statement of FOX’s opinion of the intelligence level of their audience.

I always find it interesting when people watch a tv series in hopes of simply turning their brain off.

The wonderful thing about Whedon is that his shows make us think. The slow pace of the episodes may not be enough to keep the attention of TSCC fans, who have become used to the ooh-look-shiny-colors-and-movement action that simply envelopes the mind and lets you sit back. Whedons shows all have that tongue-in-cheek humour; that wonderful back-and-fourth witty conversation; and let’s not forget memorable actors from other shows playing roles big and small in others!

Dollhouse is different for many reasons, however, I feel the most prominant is simply that- like real life- it takes time to develope your character.

Echo isn’t thrust into the big-bad-conspirecy initially. She starts off as an active who is just like any other in the doll house. Later in Season One, we find out more about the characters story, past, present, and future.

I’m so, so excited to see this series back for a second season. It’s true that it’s a loss for fans of TSCC, though I implore you to take a chance on Dollhouse, Season 2, and learn more about the actives as they’re portrayed in the show.

Congrats to Dollhouse for their second season, and I can’t wait to see Ms. Glau in her special role.

AWESOME!! Glad Dollhouse was not cancelled, but also sad about TSCC.

Whedon’s shows always take time to enjoy. The characters are not just “wham-bam!, here I am,” they are more “hi…hello…here I am.” Ones brain must actually think about the story line and the chracter interactions more closely.

My daughters and I are extremely happy Dollhouse is back!!!

We all loved Buffy & Angel, Tru Calling and Firefly!!

I still can not believe TSCC is cancelled. This was a big mistake. Sell to it to SyFy or something. Fox I am not happy with you. I miss Dollhouse too.
